If the Jets are eyeing up Lienhart and really felt that they needed the number 1 or 2 pick to get him, What would it cost us? Giants gave a 1st round pick to move from 4 to 1. I personally would hate to give up next years 1st (it will probably be a high one) your thoughts?
First of all, it's Leinart... Second of all, the Giants gave #4, 3rd rounder, future first rounder and a 4th rounder as well I believe... Third of all, we probably would only need to move to #2.
I would say this years first and our 3rd and fourth, and maybe a 3 next year. Or a 2 somewhere in there, its really depends what we get for Abe.
I think with a second or third round pick this year, and obviously the 4th pick. Possibly a future pick, but if we have to give up next year's first rounder, then it isn't worth it.
http://www.thehuddlereport.com/NickelPackage/tradevaluechart.htm Do the math yourself. We need to make up about 800 points in draft pick value to get to #2. It would be the #4 our second and third round this year, or #4 and next years 1st. It's rated as a lot of value, probably more considering the Saints know Leinart won't last past Tenn. It will cost more than any of you are thinking.
Gee, I only posted that 4 times today. If we get a second or first for Abe and a 3rd round comp from the Raiders for Jordan, which probably wouldn't be to far behind ours, we would still have two firsts and a 3rd or a 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Would you do it? I think I would.
However it is also a buyer's market. The Saints know they can get the guy they're targetting at #4 and save money in the process. I'd venture to say that they probably want to move down more than we want to move up. For that reason, I believe the Saints would offer us a "discount" for the #2 pick. Probably on the order of 600 points to slide up. Maybe a 3 and 4 this year and a 2 next year. The speculation is that they want Mario Williams, although I believe they need a LB(Hawk) more than a DE. I'd love to give them JAbe to move up, but I don't think they'd have any interest in him.
