-Culpepper to Miami...the guy (according to reports I've heard) will never be as mobile as he was before the injury to his knee. He's a very good player, but has the "girl with the curl" type of game...when he's good - when he's bad, etc. It also means...

-Brees to the Saints. That helps the Jets in two ways - it keeps a smart tough QB from Miami, and it means that the chips fall in the draft to up the value for the Jets. Regardless of the QB situation, the Jets are in better shape if the Saints won't take Leinart #2.

-The guys who signed who I wanted and we lost out on, got paid too much money. I love LeCharles Bentley, but the Browns overpaid. They also overpaid for Kevin Shaffer and Ted Washington. The more I read about Shaffer, the less I liked him. Washington would be a short term solution at best. Miami also took a LONG shot on LJ Shelton, who's always under-performed.

-None of the QB's who signed were right for the Jets. Kitna is 33? Brees would have been expensive and another guy with a shoulder surgery.

Now the Jets - with Cap Room...can trade for Ramsey, deal Abraham...and sit in the drivers' seat at #4. I'd be happy with D'Brick, Mario Williams, Ngata, or even AJ Hawk at #4. So, the Jets are in a good position to build the team for the future.

I wouldn't want Young for anything. I'm not high on Leinart, a big guy with a small arm. I love Cutler, and if we have another #1 pick because of a trade for Abraham, I'm all for it.

Sure Culpepper is an upgrade, but I'd rather see the Dolphins get him than Brees, and with Brees going to New Orleans, it works out for the Jets in the draft.

If you compare would you rather the Dolphins have Culpepper or Brees?

If his knees hold up....Still somewhat of a risk. But, Brees going to NO...PRICELESS

Matt Leinart's arm is not small. People make a big deal out of his arm stength because that is his only "weakness"...Matt has adequate arm strength...and has everything else you look for in a franchise QB.

If Culpepper is healthy he has much more talent and can do so much more damage than Brees.

For a change, I am actually with you GG. Brees is coming back from Shoulder surgery and we all know how that works not too mention that the Saints situation might be worse than ours. He is going to get killed backed there.
Culpepper wont be ready for at least 1/2 the year with his MCL/ACL injury.
I think that neither of them are worth what was paid for them.
NO may try to trade down now but I hope that Tanny holds still. We still need as many 1st day picks as we can get and trading up 2 spots will kill that.
If we stay at #4 we will still get an impact player.

I'd be satisfied with a Leinart, Young or Cutler over Ramsey because Ramsey hasn't done anything and those three are cut up to be good. I'd draft a QB and keep Abe.

He has all the physical tools no question about it BUT that doesn't make a QB great. He never comes through in big situations and loses way too many games in a abd division. QBs are definied by wins, Brady does not put up great fantasy #s but he makes plays and wins which is why he is the best QB in the game by far. Ryan Leaf had talent, Jeff george had talent, Art Schlichter had talent but talent only gets you so far. You don't win SBs w/ guys like Culpepper, he is not a winner.

He's obviously stronger and more athletic, but I don't think he's that much more dangerous than Brees. His play really suffered when Moss was out of Minnesota. Culpepper may be an upgrade over what Miami previously had, but I'm thankful they didn't land Brees instead.

good posts guys! Culpepper is a talent, but Brees is a smart leader...the kind of tough nosed player I'd hate for the Dolphins to have. No one threw the ball any better than Dan Marino, but the guy could never win. If Marino couldn't win, what makes you think Culpepper can win there?

If you think Jet fans put pressure on their team, Dolphin fans are so spoiled with the Perfect Season and the Super Bowl wins from the '70's and then Dan Marino...but they haven't won a Super Bowl in 30+ years either. I don't think Culpepper will handle the pressure well in Miami. The Dolphins blew it by not paying Brees...and Brees blew it by taking the money instead of the opportunity to win.

Culpepper has actually won playoff games and been to an NFC final. Brees has played in one home playoff game and lost.

I would be very wary of Leinart or Young. Cutler is the name I could live with.

Leinart did not look like the same QB when he was throwing against 1st-rate defenses and secondaries. Remember, stats are skewed in college: 75% of your games are against klunkers.

Right. Call me crazy but McGahee looks ok after a similar injury.

Totally agree, but I can't figure out for the life of me why we haven't talked to Josh McCown. He is easily the best QB available and was willing to play backup in Detroit. He'd be more willing to back up Penny because there's like a 75% chance he gets injured again.

Yeah I like Mccown too -- has serious upside. I can't figure out why everyone is so hung up on ramsey...
