per ESPN.com's rumor central : Duckett in Jets' plans? <Mar. 2> Having released veterans Kevan Barlow and Derrick Blaylock, the Jets are seeking a veteran tailback to augment a depth chart where youngster Leon Washington is now the starter by default. One name to watch is Duckett, a player the Jets like, and who will visit with team officials soon, reports ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli. The Jets feel Duckett, who played sparingly in Washington last year after the Redskins acquired him from Atlanta, offers a nice complement to the speedy Washington. Also, look for Jets tailback Curtis Martin to soon make official his retirement. Martin was a visitor to the NFL combine last week and told friends there that he has all but abandoned any hopes of a comeback.

If the Jets sign Duckett, it is a huge sign they plan to go the Duckett/Dunn route....Washington/Duckett... Unpopular signing? Yes. Could it work if the Jets line improves? Absolutely.
Duckett is interesting. Has anyone seen a good bit of him? I'm a blank slate on the guy. ESPN just says he has a "questionable work ethic." That's not really encouraging. -X-
Saw him play a good bit while with the Falcons. The guy is def what the jets want to go with Washington plus he has decent speed. I actually wanted the Jets to get him last year instead of Barlow. When he went to WAS he go buried in all the RBs they have. I have also heard the work ethic things stated above. After being buried in WAS I bet you could get him real cheap and if thats the case he could be a steal if motivated.
AWESOME news. Relatively inexpensive and a good player who got hidden in the maze that is the Washington Redskins...
I like the idea.... There is no question here as to Washington's talent, the only question is if he can be a 25 carry a game back.. With Duckett, Washington will not have to handle short yardage carries, and will have a guy whose been working as the complementary power-back to a guy like Leon most of his career.. I'd be all for the signing...
I think this would rock. I've always liked Duckett, and with proper coaching and an honest chance, I think he could work out. It's worth a chance, anyway.
I woould be ok w/ this. we could get better w/o overpaying for a feature back that would cut into Leon's touches.
I think it could work if the Jets use Duckett as a fullback in some sets with Washington line up as tailback...Could keep defenses on there toes seeing a backfield with two capable runners
Proven? That I don't know about. Young and powerful? Definitely. He's got some talent, and bringing him in to compete with Houston for the other back besides Washington would make a lot of sense.
I wouldn't mind Duckett coming in. As long he isn't overpaid, I don't see how it's not a bad signing. He was out shined by Dunn in Atlanta, so he didn't get to prove himself as the every game back'. A 1-2 punch of Leon and TJ would be nice.
they say he's got a questionable work ethic but I don't see Tangini having any interest in the guy if they didn't think they could get him to buy into the system. Just my 2 cents. I would love to see a big back to compliment Leon!
Ive been clamering for this guy for months. This guy just needs a good coaching staff to put him in the right direction. He would be a stude here.
