JETS HOPE FOR A SHOT AT TURNER By MARK CANNIZZARO March 1, 2007 -- ~ ~ And, despite some rumors that Jets' DE Kimo von Oehlhoffen, who's due a $600,000 bonus tomorrow, was in jeopardy of being released, his agent, Mark Bartelstein said, "He's going to be there with the Jets. I spoke with Mike (Tannenbaum, the Jets' GM) and they want him." mark.cannizzaro@nypost.com > http://www.nypost.com/seven/0301200...for_a_shot_at_turner_jets_mark_cannizzaro.htm
That article was written by Cannizzaro and I usually don't go by anything he writes. Notice how all of the other articles today mention the tender that was placed on Turner, while his article says a decision still hasn't been made? He probably wrote the article early and then hit all of the buffets in the area
He's a pile of trash and their is NO use for him. Even as a backup, when he's in there, it'd be Brad Kassell/Matt Chatham all over again. Cut him and move on.
His leadership, intangibles aren't something you just throw away...he won't start, but he a reliable backup.
while i agree he shouldn't make a lot as a back-up, cheerleaders aren't really leaders, mentors, or known for their educational skills. if he stays, it's for depth and to teach whoever we draft as his replacement, not to shake pom-poms. i don't have a problem with that, unless he's making more than he should. maybe he'll restructure? cheers
I'm happy to have him on the team because of his experience and veteran leadership. He makes pretty good depth, so I won't complain... As long as he doesn't start.
backup??? He was HORRIBLE last year!!! Why would you keep him as a backup he is making 3 million. Isnt that a bit much for a 36 year old backup??? Didnt get this signing from day 1 and keeping him puzzles me more.
