Raiders | Raiders might lose Jordan
    Thu, 1 Mar 2007 00:24:55 -0800

Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reporting for the Sporting News, reports it's still possible the Oakland Raiders won't pay starting RB LaMont Jordan the roster bonus he is due in the coming weeks.

I'll PASS... answering the question someone will ask.

    Jordan proved he's a backup.

BS... The only thing he proved was that even the most capable back can not run through brick walls.

A blind man could see how terrible that Oakland line was. Give him a break, he was still productive even without a half decent line.

Yeah, at this point he is nothing more than a backup. The guy's will to succeed as a starting back was truly proven, when he flat-out admitted that he hadn't even studied the running plays in the playbook.

Sorry, he's shown flashes here and there but I view him as an older Cedric Houston/Barlow type, for alot more money.

guy is overrated there is a reason why after only 2 season there willing to just let him walk on the streets.

that 3.8 carry avg is not impressive. niether is 272 for barley 1,000 yards

he was decently productive the first season, but this year he was terrible...which i agree isnt all his fault, but the guy has an attitude and even though his cost will dip considerably...he still wouldnt be worth the money

He proved he wasn't a feature back but he is better than Cedric and a combo of Jordan and Washington could be a big time duo. I'd rathr save money and sign a guy like lamont to compliment leon than give up picks and a ton of $ for a Turner.

Do you honestly think that this avg is not for good reason? I would say that is a pretty damn good average for a line that is complete trash. He ran pretty good behind a decent line when he was here, and I dont credit all of it to CM either. For a back to hit the 1,000 yard mark on that team is impressive to me, and it is no surprise that he got hurt. It is hard not to get hurt when you have too literally create your own holes for just about EVERY run down. There is a reason why that offense was so god aweful last season, and it showed in the trench every single down.

If we can get LaMont on the cheap, then do it. We already know he can be successful in a 2-RB system, which is exactly what he would be in.

Exactly. Just look at his roles that he has been succesful in, and then look at the type of runner he is. I am fairly positive that type of run style is what everyone is raving for, but maybe it really is just me. :/

    Jets Combo Runner Requirements:

Success in 2 RB rotation- Check
    Power/Head on RB- Check
    Good Frame- Check
Looks good in Grean & White- Check

Throw me a freakin bone here. :)

Timing is everything in life. It's a shame, but I think things could have been different for Lamont. We'll never know how well he could have done here behind an improved O-line and I suspect that if he had more touches under Herm, he could have improved as well.

But none of that was meant to be and now his time is waning, so no, at this point, let's look elsewhere. I was sorry to see him go at the time, but that was then and this is now.

One can only hope that he banked much of the $25 million he left us for and invested it wisely.

If you consider the so called " power backs " we had last year I would take Jordan back in a heartbeat. He can still pound it in certain yardege situations. allentown ernie.

Maybe "on the cheap" I would consider it, but he'd have to know that his role here is no improvement over what it was before (purely a backup or stop-gap while we look elsewhere) and perhaps even worse, because we're looking for a "feature back," and he ain't gonna be it.

Now, if he can swallow that and sign on at a very reasonable price, I might have to take a hard look at that.

But if Curtis Martin barely makes 1,000 yards on 400 carries he is considered awesome...

err JIMMY BROWN would look like a backup on a team with NO run blocking; no QB; and a predictable OFFENSE.

He is not even 30 and has low mileage on him. I think he would be cheap and his running style would complement leon's. I would be happy to welcome him back at the right price. I would still draft a rb and cut houston.

He had over 1500 all purpose yards and 12 TD's in 14 games on a bad raiders team in 2005. He's the big 230 lb, downhill style back we need to pound the defense throughout the course of the game. He also knows many of the players on the team. We've all seen what he can do when healthy.

Now he may seem a bit injury prone but as part of a 2-3 headed monster with Washington and Houston he would probably get less carries than he was used to in Oakland. He would also be a part of the rugged Mangini training camp which seems to have helped us with injuries so far (albeit much of this could have been luck). We also would have have signed him for a lower price so if he does continue to be injury prone we could simply release him without to much of a cap hit.

Jordan could be our best value at RB if the Raiders do in fact cut him.

Curtis only barely reached 1,000 in 2002 and he was hurt all year and had less than 100 yds after 4 games.
