There is a difference between two games for the Falcons, and a SUPERBOWL with the Pats, for crying out loud!
Man I met Wayne a bunch of times and he was cool as hell ...Bought me a beer at mannies on Moonachie road one night. Wonder if the same people who wouldnt want him as Mr. Jet , were big Meyshawn fans too. I would agree with Namath Chrebet Martin and the sack exchange, to bad Gastineau turned out to be such a hump. I would also like to add marty Lyons. The way he played in a playoff game with both his shoulders in sling. He still outplayed anyone else on the field even though we lost. He left it all out there, and for that he will always be remembered
I've talked to Wayne a few times and he was great. He does have the attitude of the "Bergen County Kid" though. Maybe because we grew up in neighboring towns is why we got along... as far as who else gets the title my first would be Wesley Walker... a true Jet to the end... Freeman McNeil would also have to be on the list... Buttle seems like he could be a douche in person buy he's definately a Jet till the end... if Lucas didn't play for Miami I'd be tempted to put him on the list... I'd also throw in Bruce Harper and Johnny Hector for shits and giggles
Without a doubt, Wayne left a big impression on this franchise but we have two hall of famers and a few more huys (Klecko, etc.) that should be in there. Cherbet with zero pro bowl invites just doesn't become the face of the Jets franchise.
I was going to give some wise ass answer, like I know who my GF calls Mr. Jet anyway. Whenever I think of the Jets (well the good things about the Jets) two players come to mind. They are Joe Klecko and Curtis Martin. If I had a kid that played football they are the two players I would want him or would like him to emulate. They played their guts out and most importantly they treated others, be it fans or other players, with a modicum of respect that most modern athletes can not nor will not grasp. I have never ever seen a bad word uttered about either. Like I said not only are they HOF worthy players they are HOF worthy individuals as well. If I was ever to wear another person's (I just do not do that) name on the back of a football jersey those two would be the only ones.
I've met him a couple of times and he was pretty ornery, but these were in paid memorabilia shows so maybe he just didn't want to be there. Never met him in a personal setting....
YEAH, the difference is Curtis was awesome out of the gate, and Favre wasnt. Its his fault he got playing time as a rookie????
