I'm not hypothesizing anything at all (and the post you quoted doesn't mention the schedule, either) - what I'm saying is that most teams that win 10 games do worse the following year, and that is not a hypothesis, but rather an indisputable fact. I don't expect the Jets to sit around and do nothing. I also don't expect the rest of the NFL to sit around and do nothing, either, so it makes no sense to assume that the Jets will somehow gain on everyone else during the offseason. You can hope that players who played well as rookies will get even better in their second years, but that's not typical, either, as the "sophomore slump" implies. And the part of your post I've bolded hardly contradicts what I said - thinking the Jets will make a push towards 10-11 wins when they just won 10 sounds a lot like thinking they're not going to do better, and is certainly not consistent with predicting at least 12 wins, as Rob did.
Once I read your post saying the Giants were ahead of us I didn't even feel the need to click the link. The Giants just lost 75% of their offense and are putting it into the hands of an unproven back-up whose never started an NFL game and with his frame / running style is sure to be banged up / get hurt. Good luck Giants.

The biggest problem the Jets have is the Patriots, which, unfortunately, are not an easy team to get past in the division.
What did you see this year that led yu to believe that the jets are a top ten team in the nfl? The fact that we competed with the two super bowl teams? we lost both games, and got outplayed, so that doesn't mean shit. We beat the pats? they dominated us in the playoffs when it really counts. Or that we had a 10-6 record? we were consistent, you can't be 10-6 without beating the teams you should beat, but face it, we beat some bad teams and never really proved anything to anybody. We were not good enough to be a field goal away from a afc championship game in '04 and we weren't as bad as a 4-12 season in '05. we are a middle of the pact team right now and there is no way around it
Hehe, that's the definition of a quarterback controversy. No controversy is "X will start come hell or high water in training camp."
Teams that win SB have to be loaded with talent and have a few stud playmakers, they have to be well coached get some breaks and not have key injuries. We had everything that a SB team needs last year except the loaded with talent and a few stud playmakers part. That gets you 10 wins against an light schedule. One or two key injuries and a tougher schedule could easily put us at 6 wins next year. This team needs to have a great off season to get to 11 or 12 wins next year.
This is why we are what we are since Woody took over In 2000 we took Saun Ellis, John Abe, CP & Tony Becht all in the 1st round So now lets C how those picks helped us to the SB. 2000 Abe Gone Becht " Ellis Medicore at best CP Also Medicore 2001 Santana M Gone 2002 B Thomas Certainly not a game changer so average at best 2003 DEW Same as B. Thomas right above him 2004 JV Same as DEW & B. Thomas right above him 2005 None Thank Dave Jolley & he to is gone 2006 Mangold Finally a Keeper Brick So far just average at best Just look at that 7 years of drafts totaling 10 1st round draft choices & only 1 good one in the bunch. This says a awful lot of the NYJs R & D/scouting department & why we still many moons from being a TRUE SB contender. Unless we take quantum leaps in the scouting dept we will just be on the same merry go round year after year that we have been on since 01/13/69
Who cares Priscos a retart. Let them rank us low we'll prove those bastards wrong again like we did last year. Then they'll be exposed for the shitty writers that they are.
Prisco is probably the worst dedicated NFL writer out there. An example of his brilliance is that he had the Bears ranked 20th overall last year just before the season when they were clearly one of the top 3 teams in the NFC and likely to win 11 games without trying too hard.
 I always viewed QB controversies as moments where both QB's on the team suck tremendously, and not more than the other.
I think he gave us a good ranking considering the fact that we beat a bunch of bad teams this year. Im sure most of the other analysts have us ranked in the 15-25 range going into the season as well. They have a realistic view of our team and do not bleed Jet green so they tell it as the rest of the non Jet world sees it. There is nothing on either side of the ball for the Jets that suggests that we will be anything other than mediocre to bad.
Is it possible that new conditioning program has something to do with the lack of injuries? Did the players even do any streching exercises under Herm?
True, but we had big holes in the D line and the O line will probably be upgraded as well. They could only address the OL last year and the two rookies should be better next year. Kimo had to be the worst DE out there and don't know why they kept him in the whole time. Anybody would have been better than he was. If this year they improve the team like they did last year, we should do better than last year especially with one full year of experience with the new offense and defense.
I hope nobody picks us to be good in 2007. When is the last time the Jets were good when they predicted to be? Lets be the underdogs again. Tough schedule, Buff is going to take the next step, Dolphins have a good defense, ya da ya da. People just don't get it. We are for real.
