Anyone know if Nugent is doing anything to get stronger this off-season; because a lot of his kickoffs were a F-ing discrace last year.
I know there was rumor that he would work out with the Dolphins kicker, but has anyone heard anything since?

college football is a far cry from the nfl i heard he had a workout regime planned and hired a personal trainer and wanted to add some bulk.

His KO average actually wasn't too bad, he was just a little inconsistant

he kicked some to the 25... thats horrible
    he barely had any touchbacks...
    he kicked a few out-of-bounds...
but he was a rookie, and he got the job done.

He was a good on field goals this year. He just struggled with kickoffs. He will improve though and he will only get better every year.

He doesn't have enough leg to be a TB type of guy, but when he's on, he's at the 5 yard line with very good hang times. The first half of last season, he was amoung the league leaders in opposing teams' average starting field position. In the second half of last year, he lost hang time and distance. I actually think he may have been kicking too much.

He said he would work on strengthening his leg, but did not want to lose foot speed on his kicks either, which getting too muscular can do to a kicker.

The kicks that went only to the 25 were kicked that way on pupose...its a way to screw up the kick return teams blocking...I remeber I was confused with that too, but then I realized it was a directional kick...

I agree he kicked too many out of bounds...

He got sooo much better as the year went on and I knew he would...

He said at the end of the year he was going to work on improving his leg strength...

I'd rather he not worked out too much and risk messing up his stroke. I'm prefer that he is money from inside 50 yards and his KOs are a bit short.. I'd take that over another John Hall any day..

What are you talking about? His kickoffs were very consistant- consistantly to the 10 yardline. The guy had 1 touchback, that took an awkward bounce first. He better lift his ass off this summer. How does this get past our scouts? How do you draft a kicker with your first pick, and he can't even get you a touchback? I'm just glad we still landed Miller-- that was such good value there, that it made up for drafting a kicker.

It's also harder to get the distance in the cold weather-- maybe that had something to do with shorter kicks. He'll be good for a long time, and he'll add distance to those ,kicks. I just hope one day he can help put us over the top in a big game.

F-ing disgrace is quite strong and inaccurate. Inconsistent at times is better.

I was down on Nuge a lot this year, but late in the year TBird brought around my thinking. He did improve, so I am willing to give him this year to prove he warranted the second round pick.

He's still better than his predecessor...

If you had kept up on this, you would know that Westhoff knew he was not going to get many touchbacks.... that was a given. What Westhoff liked was his hang time. That gave the coverage team plenty of time to get down the field, and LIKE I SAID, in the first half of last season, Nugent was in the TOP FIVE in opponents avg starting field position.... but, it seems you just want to rant.... so go ahead.... rant.
