Maybe its because I don't have a rooting interest in this year's SuperBowl, but wow, talk about a lack of any excitement or buzz. I'm not hearing any conversations in the Hotel Bars, on the Job, lunchtime, nada.. Strange. I've been thru both Indy and ChiTown and yeah, they're just as excited as a kid at christmas but get away from those two towns and there's nothing to even hint that there's a superbowl even being played today. I wonder.. Have we gotten to a point in Pro Football, like Baseball, whereas if you're team isn't directly involved, you don't care? Thoughts?
Well, living in Indy, I can tell you that you can FEEL the excitement, coming from both Colts and Bears fans... I haven't been elsewhere since the Championship games, so I'm not sure how it is, but the feeling here is really cool.... And yes, I'll be wearing my Kerry Rhodes jersey to the huge all BLUE Super Bowl party tonight...
I got your buzz right here... It's a reason to party...I don't really care who wins, but it should be a good game...
Conference Championships > Super Bowl Football season ended two weeks ago. The Super Bowl is just a hyped game for the casual fan.
The problem with the Super Bowl is that the press has beaten us over the head so much with the hype and the B.S. over the past few years that most of us are numb to it. It no longer is about the game but it has been turned into this great corporate whore-fest with everybody trying to squeeze a few more bucks more out of our pockets. They wrap themselves up in the flag and say it's "UnAmerican" not to go to excess about this one game, but what about the game itself? Lets be honest, when was the last exciting game? Most are either snooze-fests (ala New England) or blowouts (ala San Fran or Dallas back in the 80's and 90's). Now we have the Colts and Bears. According to the papers, the Bears with their lack of offence are going to get slaughtered. Why would anybody other than a Colts fan want to watch that? Do we really want to watch the coronation (and don't kid yourself. If he even starts to look decent, the announcers will be falling all over themselves to kiss his, and his coaches, butt and make him sound like the second coming of God himself instead of the whinny crybaby that has trouble handling pressure that he really is) of the new corporate spokesman/poster boy/shill Payton Manning? Think about it. When people tell you that the ONLY reason they are going to watch the game is to see the COMMERCIALS, Something is seriously wrong with the game itself.
whew... that'll put some hair on your chest. that stuff kills me every time, but it has a certain mystique. the best Jameson I ever had though, came from the distillery next to the Guinness factory in Dublin.
The superbowl is a fine example of just how commercialistic the NFL (and not to speak of the whole US) is. It's sad really, how a great sport is defiled by corporative interests.
Are you from France?! We don't like communism in this country and like Freedom and demcracy and that is why the super bowl is the best game in the world!!!!!
Me too! The Super Bowl is always a big thing in my family. No matter who's playing. Today is going to be quiet though, every one is sticking close to home while Ryan is still in Iraq. On the bright side, the family is split on who's rooting for who. I'm going with da Bears. Hubby, the Colts. Boooooo.
I am excited and cheering for Da Bears! I don't want Manning to get a ring to be honest. Sadly, the Colts are the better team ha ha. But you never know...
I'm into it like I am every Super Bowl. Big game, big hype. I buy it! But I don't like Prince, but I'll be into Billy Joel for the anthem.
I'm looking forward to the game, but i'm not stoked like I have been, even last year's Superbowl I was pretty amped up for. I just really think Indy is going to hammer this Bears defense, weather permitting. Had Chicago have Tommie Harris and Mike Brown then i'd give Chicago a good chance...
Well to be completely honest, i dont see much buzz outside of the chi-town and Indy area either...there is minimal talk about SB, in fact im hearing more talk about the halftime show with Prince then the actual game (sad):sad. I plan on watching the game at a party today, but i just wont care as much since the Jets arent in it
