As I was eating my bagel this morning, I was flipping through the Daily News and the Sports Section was basically all about Super Bowl 41. A lot of coverage on Peyton, and I came to a page with this article on it. It's a pretty interesting read.

I like what Parcells had to say towards the end of the article.

It was a pretty good article, and it goes to show you how much may have changed this Jets team if Peyton didn't go to college for his Senior Year.
I like what the Daily News did with that photo of Peyton in a Jets uni.

Why? With player like Keyshawn, Coles, Chrebet, Martin, and the O-line we had, how could he have failed?

I completely agree. We had a superbowl ready team which would have won with a player like Peyton leading us.

We picked Keyshawn in '96. Manning was going to come out in '97, so we would've been able to pick both.

ugh....I wish people knew something about the team before they posted. Making a mistake is one thing, but making one liek that is another.

To be fair, Manning probably would have impacted future drafts so we may not have had the personel mentioned. Still, any coach worth his salt would have built around the guy.

We probably wouldn't have had as much success as we did under Bill. A rookie QB in '97 would not have gotten us to 9-7 and definitely not to the AFC Championship Game in 1998. However, if he flourished in 1999, Bill may have stayed and we would have had more success in the early '00s.

Here is a reply I made somewhere else to this exact question:

I did not care then and especially do not care now. So he stayed in school awesome for him. Funny thing is it took him to graduate for Tennessee to win the National title. If Indianapolis loses this game the year PM retires is the year they win the Sb.

I am actually more upset over the 1983 draft then this.

I am not a hater, although I would love to have had him...and man does he make some funny commercials...can't help but like the guy, it's not like he stayed in college to slight the jets...

PM with no Bill Polian? I really think he would be just above avg. Bill Ponian is a master mind. Looka at the Bills of te early 90's. They were build just like the COLTS identical. Jame&Adai = Thurman... Marvin&Wayne = Reed Loften... Freeny&Mathis = Smith&Bennett... Both ran a hurry up, bills called it the K Gun...... anyways PM would not be the QB he is today without Bill Polian..

The Christian side of me recognizes all that's good about Peyton Manning and so good for him...all his hard work has paid off, and he got his championship.

The Jets side of me now wishes a plague come down on his head for choosing not to come out as a junior to play for the Jets.

Now that he's got his ring, I can comfortably swear a blood oath of revenge on his head...he goes right to the top of the list, just above Shula and right below Belichick.
