This would be a smart move. Pats fans say he is a great special teams player, and provides great depth. He knows Mangini's system. He could be a solid starter here. If not, it doesn't hurt to have this valuable depth, and it strengthens our special teams.

Wasn't this said about Ramsey as well? I'll believe when I see it.

    Haha.

Anyway, I hope our resident Patsy fans give us their take on this. I have no clue about this guy, and wouldn't mind hearing NOTom or DW's opinion.

    ESPN Insider Scouting Report:

    #58 Matt Chatham | LB
    Full Name: Matthew Chatham
    Born: June 28, 1977
    Newton, IA
    Height: 6-4
    Weight: 250 lbs.

    Age: 28
    Pos: LB
    Experience: 6 years
    College: South Dakota

He is an excellent open field tackler, which shows up on special teams, and he can adjust to movement on the open field, he has nice change of direction skills, and he seems to play under control. He is at his best as a linebacker who is chasing sideline to sideline where he can make plays in space, and not have to worry about traffic or taking on blocks. When he has to step up and fill, he is not nearly as effective, and he will dazzle you vs. inside run at the point of attack. He has the ability to be an effective straight line blitzer, but he doesn't have enough experience or playtime to show anybody if he can really excel in that role.

You were closer the first time. It's corps.

Sure do - if you're trying to say two different things. You were more correct the first time. Stick to your guns.

He wants a chance to start and he may get it here...maybe he'll be a beast for us who knows? He'll play ILB with Vilma.
He backed up Bruschi his whole career and did a nice job from what I hear.
    Give him a chance.

Well of course preferrably I'd take AJ Hawk but what's done is done and all we can be are Jets fans and hope for the best.

Yeah, that's exactly what people are saying.

Man, I can't wait for the board to return to normal.

30 year olds don't have upside. This guy is a bum. I spoke to y friend who is a pats fan-- he sucks. Anyone who thinks this a good signing is out of their minds.
