makes it seem that much harder to find a good NT.

    nice find, man.

i hope we sign Gregg (isn't he a FA?) for 2-3 years while we groom a NT. signing Gregg also allows to choose another position early in the draft without it seeming like we're neglecting NT.

    cheers

I want to see what sort of shape Pouha is in at training camp. At the combine, he put up some really impressive power numbers, the sort of brute strength a NT has to have. He benched 475 (32 bench presses of 225 at the combine), squatted 675 and 375 in the "hang clean", a weightlifting excersize that tests for explosive power (see link)

    http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/OlympicLifts/HangClean.html

At 6'3" and somewhere between 310 and 325, he has the measurables. It was his techique and stamina that were lousy, two things that he made improvements on in leaps and bounds by the start of his second training camp last year. Then came the knee injury.

My biggest concren with Pouha is I don't know he's mean enough to be a NT. I've met him a few times, and he's like a big 'ol teddy bear. Soft spoken, not mean at all. Definite "type B" personality. Having said that, before getting injured at TC, he was getting more praise from the CS and more "atta boy" head slaps from his team mates than any other player on the defense. It looked pretty clear to me that he was ahead of DRob for the starting NT spot.

How far back the knee sent his development remains to be seen, but I'm optomistic. I'm not all that high on Gregg. For his size, he plays well enough, but he's an average NT at best in my estimation. Fat 'ol Ted Washington isn't near the player he was five years ago. NT's are hard to find, and there are a lot of teams out there looking for one.

Gregg may be average, but he does his job and does it effectively. if we have Gregg, Moore, Pouha, Robertson (rotating between NT and DE) and a draft pick, that's a nice corps of NT's.

    cheers
