The last 2 times we have played them have been years we've lost our starting QB, we did play then w/ Chad but it was Chad's first start of the year. We owe them, we had better beat them.
To be honest I do not care who is taking the snaps as long as we improve on our record from this year 11-5 is a nice goal.
Mangini seems to give every player a chance to prove themselves in camp. I think any position is open. If Cotchery works incredibly hard, and Coles bitches in camp, i wouldnt put it past Mangini to give Cotchery the number 1 receiver slot. Not saying it will happen but it could.
It will be open season again , hes already stated that with the 'clean slate' speech. I saw a vid on LC and he wasn't joking when he said he didn't know if he could go through another TC like last year. I'm not sure wheather LC will be with us next season. I don't think Cotch is ready to be a #1 WR just yet , although the strides he made this season were incredible , just goes to show if you give a guy a chance. Talking of chance , I'm really hoping the Mike Hass gets the bullet from the Bears and we pick him up , he would be our 3rd down WR. Not quick but runs routes well with great hands (biletnikoff winner)
Coles will make it for another year or two. I really think that playing with Chad is going to do him in though. Too many hits on soft tosses over the middle. If you put a decent fast receiver opposite Cotchery he'd be just fine. It's hard to explain this but he's still under-rated despite his breakout season. He has Marvin Harrison type potential.
The gut feeling I had when I watched the Interview with LC is that he didn't want to go thorgh TC again and, A; Have to fight for his job B; Sweat Bullits to try and prove himself. I really hope I'm wrong , but like I said it was a gut feeling.
Ha! I hope you are wrong too, but he was waaaay to bitchy about things all year it seemed. He had a good season aside from getting knocked around regularly and being hurt.
Chad will start. We need to Draft a new Future starter. Clemens will be lucky to be a backup. He throws too low and would throw too many interceptions in the NFL. Sad, but IMO True.
haha....this has no factual information in it. You have no proof with the remark except your own opinion.
From what i have been hearing since he got drafted, Clemens has some serious potential. I like Mangini letting it be known that the job is up for grabs, b/c that will put pressure on all the QB's in our squad to try and step it up. I think Chad will most likely start, but honestly, i would really like to see Clemens build up a solid game with an arm for the deep threat and take over. And yeah i said it, MORE ARM, you can say w/e u want about how CP is still a good QB, (and he is!), but his lack of arm strength will always hurt the offense in a schematic sense, and a gameplay sense. So if Clemens starts living up to it, more power to him
Nah, totally agree. You wont see a pouting Pennington..although 3rdanddraw might disagree...lol. I just think he might be surprised. This is a pretty complicated offense that no matter how you feel about Chad (hes not my cup of tea for qb) you have to give him major kudos on how he picked up and ran this offense all year. That being said, I totally agree with your post.
Thanks Jay. I am looking forward to how Clemens continues to develop in the offense given its complexity. Hopefully he will make a good showing this year and keep Chad pushing. I think even most Chad supporters would like to see better games from him next year. I know I would at least. The whole team is growing and learning though so we will see.
He has a mouth that gets out of control at times and he also is a very talented player who works hard at all phases of the game. I used to be a mid-level manager at one of the big media companies and I learned very early in that process that often your best performers have the biggest egos and the loosest lips. You still need them badly, so a good manager learns to adapt to the individual and maintain their ability to perform at the high levels required to make things work well. Mangini has exhibited excellent instincts so far in his management of the team and I believe that he'll be up to the task of keeping Coles happy enough to play. If Coles went the next step and turned into a "give me the ball" type demander then things might have to change.
I would agree with that for the most part... Coles is bitchy and whiny, but he always shows up for work and gives everything he has. I can stand some bitching so long as he's producing. He's never really struck me as much of a me-first kinda guy either.
I agree. Why not bring in GARCIA. he'd give CHAD a real run for the job! If CHAD wins, he is the starter. If not, great trade bait? The point is to lets try to win- NOW! Why play CHAD and still be mediocre against the better teams? How many tough teams has he beaten since 2002? How many trips into the red zone has he made without scores err TDs? You do not win big games that way on the road!
After seeing Garcia have such a good run after coming in cold, the idea of getting him isn't such a bad one. However, I do not know why he would want to come here unless he thinks Chad is more likely to go down with an injury than Donovan is. I would think Garcia would only change teams if he had a straightaway chance to be the starter. In this case he would have to come in and beat out Pennington, who already is in the system and has a good feel for it. It wouldn't be in Garcia's favor in my opinion.
I'd like to see the Jets make a run at McNabb if he came free or became available in a trade. Lots of top QBs have trouble winning the big game until their early 30's and then they win 2 or 3 big ones in a row. The criticism that McNabb endures in Philadelphia strikes me as very similar to what John Elway went through in Denver for the first 10 years of his career. Take a look at Elway before 30 and after. One of the big complaints against Elway was that he choked at the end of the season and the playoffs in the big games. That went away in a hurry when he got a fresh start under Shanahan and an upgrade in the players around him.
Is it possible that the Eagles would part with Donovan? I didn't think that they would honestly... I think he's a very good QB myself and he does get a lot of flak thrown his way that he doesn't really deserve. That would be interesting, but for same reason as Garcia I am not certain I could see this happening.
I think a certain level of frustration is setting in in Philly over the perceived power that McNabb wields in the organization. This is very similar to what happened in Denver with Elway, and given time and a Super Bowl win it will fade. Of course it's not clear that the Super Bowl win is in the offing so for the next few years I am anticipating that Philly will break into pro and anti-McNabb camps each season. Having Garcia come in and lead the Eagles the way he did must have been an eye-opener to senior management who might now see a bit of wiggle room when they are dealing with McNabb and his people. I think McNabb was seen as the franchise prior to his injury and is probably just viewed as a very good player now. His contract does make it very, very hard to trade him though. The cap acceleration would be huge, probably approaching 20 million dollars in a one shot, and maybe closer to 30 depending on how the bonuses were structured. I would say there's a possibility that McNabb becomes available in Philly in the next couple of off-seasons. He'd be worth a couple of first round picks if he is fully recovered from his injuries.
