I have to disagree. Bailey is not even a the down player. He's a DPR right now.

Sonny Styles is hard to pass imo.
Clean, bluechip prospect, All pro potential, 3 down every snap type player.
Are there any concerns I'm not seeing?

Mosley and Quincy gone, Sherwood is just too small imo, and Davis is likely a one year guy.
Styles can be a key cog in the Jets D for many years to come.
    Culture changer.

If they can trade back a couple spots and still land him, double win.

I don’t understand that take on the situation.

If the Jets canceled their interview with Bailey that would indicate to me they are less likely to take him not more likely

Reese is still learning a sophisticated NFL scheme as he goes. Remember, he is gifted, but still a young man learning. I will say to that point, he focused on that part of his game. Especially zone coverage awareness, towards the back end of the season. Showed a lot of great things too in that aspect of the game, especially with his athleticism. He's a very smart kid, who had a lot of high IQ players around him in that scheme. The pass rush move-set is weak. I agree completely, but his speed to power is incredible. Top tier. That is something that is very hard to achieve at a high level and he does it in spades. It's the most important aspect of rushing a passer, the rest is refinement. If he came to this team, especially with some of the coaches on this team, he would have a great opportunity to learn from high quality coaches on his side of the ball. His ceiling is so high and his floor is still really great. He's top OSU player in this draft. Tate is my favorite.

Jeremiah Smith is a generationally, otherworldly type of WR. Chase, Jefferson, etc.. tier. So good. I think Tate is a #1 type of WR in the NFL but clearly played second fiddle to, Smith. Insane talent.

Kayden McDonald doesn't get a lot of love like he should because he's a one year guy. What a year it was though.. This kid is going to make some DL coach cream the bed.. I think he should be a first rounder too, but I'm not sure that will happen in this class.

Thanks for the kind words. Look forward to chopping it up during the draft.

    Great post.

I want Reese badly. Kid is super athletic, powerful and from all accounts a hard worker who loves football. Plays the run, pass and pass rushes. People point to his lack of production. He had 6.5 snaps in 104 pass rush snaps. Bain had 10 in 440 pass rush snaps. Bailey had 14.5 in 325 snaps.

    Reese = 1 sack per 16 rushes. Bain = 1 sack per 44 rushes. Bailey = 1 sack per 22.5 rushes.

I would have absolutely no problem with McDonald at #33. He's a beast. Dude is going to play 12 years is this league.

The best gauges of who we're actually going to pick are draft odds. Here's a summary of where we stand today:

    DraftKings: Reese -130, Bailey +100

    FanDuel: Reese -150, Bailey +110

    Kalshi: Reese 52%, Bailey 48%

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but if you can bet on the draft, isn't there an incentive to start draft rumors in order to influence the odds?

This seems like a massive opportunity for corruption.

My last thoughts on this and I’m waiting for draft, based on what we have heard from Glenn and Moug, and what they did last year with Membou, I believe they are looking at the player who is the most ready to play day one, who is going to be a good character guy.

They don’t care about positional value, if they love him they will grab him.(Glenn’s Words)

That leads me to believe they are leaning towards Styles, or Reuben Bain with second pick.

I’m not saying I want these guys at two just what I think they would do.

However I also think they have no problems trading down if a sweet deal comes along, staying in top ten and grabbing whoever is on the board.

That could be Downs, Baine if he drops, Tate or Love.

Styles would be the safe pick but I really think they’re going EDGE. Just not quite sure who. I agree with your last paragraph….they would love to trade down but not too far.

I don't think we'll pick Styles but I think it's more likely than most expect.

He's the cleanest prospect in the draft:
    • Elite athlete
    • Great production at a top school
    • Great character and leadership traits by all accounts
His bust chance is extremely low imo and there's an argument you could turn him into a hybrid blitzing LB because he's not only athletic but also very fluid/loose. He's not a robotic athlete like some guys who light it up in drills but can't change direction well.

I'd rather keep Styles in the middle for the long term in the unlikely event the Jets drafted him. I know he's fast enough to rush the edge, but he's an ex safety and has the type of coverage skills you want covering TEs and some of the faster backs, he can blitz through the gaps when needed. Dude totally gives me Urlacher vibes.

He could play the Will slot for both 3-4 and 4-3 until he takes over for Demario.

As we are thinking this through, keep one thing in mind. For the ENTIRETY of Saleh, and now Glenn's, tenure, this team hasn't been able to stop a nosebleed as far as the run game goes. That's an unmitigated fact. Teams stopped throwing because they could basically run at will. Now, I don't know how much a pure edge rusher, only, is going to cure that particular stat but I'd sure like to come out of the 1st round with someone who we KNOW can knock a RB off his pins at the point of attack. I really can stomach watching any defender chasing down a RB. I'd rather the RB NEVER get started. More food for thought.

Yeah good points. He also plays a bit softer than you'd want from a guy engaging OL all game. Not soft in a vacuum, but it was striking watching Styles after watching Reese. Reese stonewalls guys. One of the stronger 240 lb players I've seen.

I swear that's been a chronic problem with this franchise basically forever. They've almost always been a sieve when it comes to stopping the run. The player profile you're describing sounds like Bain to a tee. He's a menace in the run game. Just a complete D end.
