This is a master anti-Jets villain you're talking about here. What is your hidden talent? Naturally, being Italian, I have perfected the impersonation of Marisa Tomei’s character Mona Lisa Vito from “My Cousin Vinny.” I actually heard [New England Patriots coach] Bill Belichick talk about Mona Lisa Vita during a press conference as he also thinks highly of the movie and Tomei’s portrayal. Actually, my goal is to bring elements of the Mona Lisa Vito character to each SportsCenter – funny, knowledgeable and opinionated. My dream is to interview [Belichick] in full Mona Lisa Vito character on SportsCenter.
I do from this vantage point: the NFL is COMPLETELY full of shit from top to bottom and rife with hypocrisy. This situation is not being "investigated" because there may be marital infidelity involved . . . although that is what is being IMPLIED. Its infuriating, because if it's one thing the NFL lacks, it's a moral compass of ANY kind. They need to make a show of it because what it's really about is whether or not Russini had access to inside information of any stripe and was committing the equivalent of "insider trading" to 1. Get scoops 2. By sharing team(s) intel. They need a sacrificial lamb so it looks like they're setting an example by orchestrating a performance to "preserve the the integrity of the league" If it turns out to be at the Cheats expense, I'm OK with that, those cheating pricks. CTE Cover-up Gate, Spy Gate, Destroy Tapes Gate, Domestic Violence Gate, Deflate Gate, and now we have Bang Gate; but lest we forget, Sports Betting Gate (which they'll never go down for), and NFL Streaming Anti-Trust Gate (TBD). I'm very happy to sit here and watch it all burn in theory, but in reality, as the machine is currently constituted and assembled, it won't. Somebody who no longer has any skin in the game but has an incredibly large act to grind will whistleblow. I'm convinced of it. It's just a matter of when.
My question exactly. I understand why this appears to have ruined Russini's career (if you haven't heard, she has resigned from The Athletic in the midst of the internal investigation by The New York Times, still claiming (of course) that all of the reports are untrue), but news outlets have been paying (in one form or another) for inside information, and reporters with special access to sources have been exploiting that access, for centuries. By all appearances they're both cheating pieces of garbage, and will hopefully lose big in divorce proceedings, but I don't really see how this is something the NFL should care about.
Dianna Russini on X: "I submitted my letter of resignation to The Athletic. Everything I have to say about it is below. https://t.co/401nrtbEsj" / X
Vrable should resign. So embarrassing. I don’t know how anyone can take him seriously anymore. Laughing stock of the NFL coaches, Big Mike V <3
I’d hire him in a heartbeat and kick the invalid we have on the sideline to the curb immediately if that happened. A married man is getting a little strange on the side? O the horror.
It's a really bad look for the NFL if they're going to wax moralistic about an extra-marital affair when Belichick was sending Sharon Shenocca cash in the mail stuffed in Patriots team stationary envelopes. Now all of a sudden they're a bastion of family values? Haha, c'mon. It's gotta be something bigger with some serious implications. Russini and Vrabel are both being thrown under the bus. It's a smokescreen IMO.
