The rushers, receivers and QBs are not of the same quality we typically see from year to year. Neither are the corners or OT’s.
This draft is loaded with good DL including Edge, LBs and OGs for starters. A few great safeties and CBs can be had as well. Agree with QBs.
I agree, that’s my point. The loaded positions are the non-premium ones… LB, OG, Safeties, etc. The premium players in this draft at ER, OT, QB and WR are not the usual quality you see in the drafts.
I do NOT want to take Reese at #2. Doesn't make sense to gamble on "potential" -- plus, I have shades of Vernon Ghoulston. Take the SAFE pick with Bradley at #2...if he is what he is supposed to be, that's more than good enough for a 3-14 team. If the Jets were a borderline playoff team or had plenty of talent (esp. on defense) then you can risk taking a flyer on a guy like Reese.
I’m going to do a mock of what I think will happen. This is not what I would do personally. This is straight up what I believe Mougey will do. I feel he will be consistent in taking the best player in a position of need to appease AG. We’ve seen this trend with rookie GMs who might even be feeling the heat and want to help his coach. Mougey knows his job and AGs job is on the line this season. Especially if the jets were to lure a big time head coach with those 3 first round picks in 27’ and he wants complete control over the team. This makes me feel he will take the best player on his board in major positions of need. #2. Bailey - Edge- My gut tells me they go with best true pass rusher in the draft. He can come off the edge in a 3-4/4-3/nickel this adds up with the style of D Glenn is attempting to run. Bailey rushes a lot from the strong side and so did JJ who we just traded. He has a number of moves in his bag, freak athletic ability and excellent FBI with the amount of different moves he has to set up tackles and get to the quarterback. I really like this pick and feel Bailey will be a really good player for us. #16 - Ioane - G- Keeping this consistent theme alive. Taking a guard here I’m not a big fan of but I feel Mougey will look to fill holes with top prospect on his board. Ioane is by far the best true guard in this class. Adding a player that was absolutely dominant in the run game. Cleans up the hole left by AVT with the best option at that position in the draft. #33 - Cooper jr - WR - The need for a wr is evident so Moug stays consistent and takes the versatile receiver from the championship Hooser team. Cooper has incredible strong hands, good body control and can play inside and out. #44 - Haulsy - S - Yes, the trend continues for the 2026 draft. Best player at a position of need. AJ is a thick 220lb safety that is good at reading the quarterback eyes. He has a nose for the football delivering 3 picks for LSU and 5 for Houston the year before. He can play both FS and SS which brings versatility to the table. He has good football speed on film even with the average 40 along with good instincts and heavy tackling ability.
Not at all. Totally successful, if that were to happen. I hate to bring up history here, though, this is the New York Jets we’re talking about. When was the last time that happened? Mangold is the only player that comes to mind so it’s been a while.
There is that mindset again! All 22 positions are premium positions! An offense or defense is not successful unless all 11 are populated with fantastic players! I’m getting very tired of listening to people rationalize away a position because they don’t think it’s an elite position! I’ll take all-pro/Hall of Fame caliber players at any of those positions all day long and twice on Sunday!
Fixed I agree, Bailey is the best pass rusher in this draft. The dude is a freak too at 6’4” 250 pounds and has a ton of moves in his bag. He’s the guy. I see Von Miller 2.0 when I watch this kid play.
Fatcesa said there's a divide and Mougey's really calling the shots here and not Glenn. I'm not going to argue whether he's right or wrong there but just say the draft will be pretty telling. 4 picks in the first 2 rounds, if cornerback is NOT one of them then I'll think Fatcesa could be right it just feels to me like Avieon Terrell is destined to be a NY Jet though
He tried to do this like a month ago and a bunch of people came out and debunked it. I don’t think we can make a determination one way or the other who is calling the shots with this draft. We have four picks in the first two rounds and a ton of holes to fill. You could argue that at any point cornerback will be the best player available or worst player available.
This is pretty much exactly what I think will happen [OLB, *, WR, S] but I think we'll come away with a CB on #16 - Delane, or more probably, McCoy, if either are available. .
I would love that outcome…a bit “iffy” on the guard at 16, but agree we now have a hole on IOL and if this is the best way to solve it then so be it…I personally would have preferred to keep AVT even at the contract rate he got from NE and that would have freed us up to use 16 in a better way, but we are here now so it is what it is
I would be very happy with these picks. I’m big on the guard, skip the QB at 16th. 33 becomes a key pick, more so than the first two. If Simpson is there I don’t know what Mouge would do. CB might come into play too.
Interesting data that sums up why Reese is being valued higher than Bailey by most: https://x.com/Nate_Tice/status/2041204929382199423?s=20 "NFL offenses ran the ball at the highest rate since 2011 (40.8%), had the highest rushing success rate on RB runs since 2004, used 2 or fewer WRs at the highest rate since 2014, and people will still tell you that how a Edge prospect defends the run doesn't matter." "highest rate of snaps with 6 OL since 2016! Running the ball on 3rd down & 3+ at the highest rate ever!"
Reese is a growing favorite to go #2. Mostly a question of whether it's to us or another team if we trade out.
