    I always wished he would have been the Jets HC, great coach, his legacy with the Jets organization can't be matched.

    I wondered at the time if Mike Westhoff was approached about that behind closed doors and declined, but the Jets always manage to leak things out of stupidity, so I discarded the idea.

    There was talk swirling for sure. I remember everything, but I was going through a rough patch at that time, so I was momentarily sketchy here. You're right on that, but I concurrently wondered, ha.

    It's ironic he never got a HC gig anywhere for that matter, certainly highly regarded around the NFL

    Probably had a skeleton in his closet. A human skeleton from beating somebody to death with that cane after a Jets loss.

    Great coach and I really enjoyed his book, which was a lot better than Rex's book.
