They got bigger and more physical along the front 7. No flashy moves but the defense was horrible against the run last year. That will be fixed. That has a positive cascading effect on the rest of the team. Defense won’t be gassed at the end of games leading to easy drives for the offense. It’ll give the team the opportunity to force three and outs on 3rd and longs. I’m a bit disappointed they didn’t take a big swing to upgrade left guard or center. There was only one receiver worth anything and he got an absurd contract to stay out so nothing to be upset about there.
There is just about no reason for hope with this team this year. They're still going to be poorly coached and there is still a wide talent gap between them and most of the rest of the league. They'll be better than last year mainly because someone will eventually get lost somewhere on the field and wander their way in front of a pass thrown by the opposing team and record the franchise's first INT since January of 2025. But, until there is a significant upgrade at coach, we're going nowhere. The ONLY thing that this franchise is good at is hyping up the fanbase, especially when there's no reason for the fans to be even remotely hyped. I won't be buying it this season. I fell for it last year when they convinced us that it was just "coaching" that was holding Fields and the rest of the team back from being the 2007 Pats. They're going to have to prove that they're not the worst team in professional sports before I even entertain the thought of being hopeful about anything regarding this franchise. The only reason that they might give us for "hope" is that they go on a 2015 type of run and make the playoffs solely to mess up their ability to draft a franchise QB. I can already see that scenario now. We face the Colts in the AFC Championship game and lose and then the Colts lose to Green Bay, who beat Dallas in the NFC Championship game, thus ensuring that we have almost completely worthless first round picks to use to move up to draft a QB.
That was pure rape. 2 firsts for a CB who has been declining. Also, he got injured right after we traded him. That was a masterclass in selling high.
Meh. I won't be excited again till we start winning or show a real plan. I still don't get what their plan is.
We should be more competitive but I doubt the win column changes much. If it does, it’s probably because Miami are in a bigger rebuild mode than we are. Bed in the rookies, stay in tight games and be in a prime position to draft a top QB is my low ceiling for 2026.
I mean you can hate the plan but it seems kind of clear what the plan is no? The only question I have is AG the right person to execute it
wasn’t really much out there to take a swing. The best ones are gonna command a lot of money and we kinda have 3 really good OT. Getting the guy from Raiders was a good move bc it’s a low risk high reward situation as he wasn’t that bad prior years and hopefully putting him next to a good player shows he is above average and better than last year
I got zero confidence. I thought there was a plan last season and I was terribly mistaken. Terribly mistaken.
Why? Do they play six days straight spanning the globe? What's so brutal about the schedule? Are they forced to play teams that are better than them? Unless it's the Raiders every game then it was bound to happen. Of course I'm being a sarcastic bastard, but I've never understood the "fear of the schedule" thing. I haven't looked at the schedule (It's not even out yet is it?), but I assume the Jets will play other NFL teams. I already know they'll get the Dolphins twice. That ain't brutal. Maybe they play Seattle six times away? (There I go again) Stop with the brutal schedule talk.
It our time of the year, at least Mougey has us back on track with being the offseason champs. It’s not really hope, it’s just all we have is the offseason.
That really is the question, isn't it? Can AG actually coach this unit to anything beyond the disgusting display we saw last year? Personally, I don't think he has it in him. Would love to be proven wrong but last year was unmitigated disaster from top to bottom. A former player should have know better. I'm not saying he should be some whiz bang coach but, as a former player, he should have been able to recognize the pending disaster. Hell, even if he only looked at it with "player's eyes." Hell, most fans could tell that shit wasn't going to end well. From a DC that has been fired left, right and center to a rookie OC that had a zero track record, well, of anything. To take a QB, like Fields, who was on his THIRD team in as many years...what could go wrong? Again, would LOVE to be wrong about this but I don't think I am. Glenn should have been shown the door with both Engstrand and Wilks.
I always come into each new season with hope, but that's usually dashed by week 2 or 3. It's ok though because it frees up my Sundays so I can work, go to church or spend more time with my kids.
The Jets got super lucky with that pick. Jones getting injured made the trade have value, but when it happened it was projected to be a #30 or so. I still feel that he's elite and would have been incredible with Minka on the backend.
The porousness of our run defense and lack of pass rush didn't help Sauce this year. I agree we lucked out getting #16 but we are so many pieces away from competing that his talent would be wasted here. The picks should hopefully fill holes in our roster and I wish Sauce all the best in Indy.
The Colts were never going to keep up the pace they were at when the trade was made though. Their front office and Irsay’s daughter got way in over their skiis as to the talent that was on that roster and how far they were going to go. They lost 3/4 when they made the trade and the only win was barely squeaking by the Falcons in London. They lost to 5 straight playoff teams thereafter and ended up where the team was probably destined to be any ways with or without Daniel Jones.
I always have hope around this time of year. There is no reason the Jets shouldn’t be 9-8 competing for a playoff spot next year. But it all comes down to coaching and QB play ultimately (with a sprinkle of good luck in the injury department).
