I heard we signed some OG from the Raiders? WTH man? I heard so many bad things about their o-line last season. Why are they dumpster diving for players at key spots from the team picking #1 overall in the draft? Why not sign players off the defending SB champs? or the SB runnerup? or a team that made the playoffs? LOL the Raiders. The Jets are killing me.
He was great here. Heck his last season here may have been the second best season from a Jets DB I've ever seen. #1 is Revis 2009. Jamal was a amazing Jet. No I wouldn't expect him to be that player again but if someone deserves to wear the green and white again even if it's only to retire as a Jet it's him.
So how are we all feeling after week 1 of free agency? On offense, we got a passable QB and plugged a hole we let happen at OG with a mid-tier hopefully avg replacement On defense, we got an above avg. safety, a good but very old LB, a seemingly hot and cold CB who got a bunch of picks, and we got a few kind of mid-tier guys to fill along the DL On ST, we lost a rock solid dependable kicker and replaced him with a guy who may or may not be as good I don’t know enough about all of the DL guys we signed, so I’ll have to hope Mougey knows what he’s doing and maybe a couple of them are above average starters, but I don’t know enough about any of them to have an opinion on if they are good, avg ,or slop. We stayed away from high priced splash moves, which is a change of pace from how many of our former GMs operated, whether good or bad time will tell. Overall though, we had such shit on D that it feels like we maybe (hopefully) raised the floor a bit…I don’t think we got any real impact type guys so not sure we raised the ceiling we would have had with Sauce and Q still here, but I’m hoping at least the floor is higher. I don’t know, I kind of feel like with all that cap space, I’m a little underwhelmed at what we got, but hoping Mougey has a good eye on all these DL guys. And I totally get that we are only 1 week in and there is a lot of free agency stuff left to come, though most of the top free agents are gone by now…maybe a trade or two which Mougey seems to do really well, and of course the draft is still ahead. It’s definitely a different approach and not a bad one really so waiting to see how the whole thing develops.
I think Mougey did a good job. Given the current state of the franchise, we aren't going to be any players first choice in free agency. Rather than overpay for a big name, Mougey signed solid young players with upside. The Davis signing and the Fitzpatrick trade are a great step towards improving team culture and bringing accountability through veteran leadership in the locker room. The Jets still have a long way to go, but at least there's finally a plan being executed that makes sense.
Andre Cisco back for 1 year, $5 mil but probably less. First meh move of the offseason for me. He stunk and he sulked. As a rotational guy playing for a competent DC should help but… meh
I think insignificant is the best word for his play when he was healthy. He brought nothing, he took nothing. But he's the backup and in ok with it. We have a lot of backups that have lots of picks in the secondary
Dalton to the Eagles for a 2027 7th rounder. Im shocked that we didn't make that move. Seemed like a no brainer and it was basically for free. The backup QB plan is gonna be interesting. I love Tyrod, but it can't be Tyrod.
He might not make the Eagles. Which makes me think the move is to just wait now until someone is cut in camp. Jets go into camp with Geno Smith, a rookie, and Brady Cook. Then when Dalton or Wentz or Flacco etc get the axe on cut down day, you bring them in as the primary backup, cutting Cook and stashing the rookie
I find it surprising they wouldn't just roll with Tanner McKee as a backup. To me, that either means they don't think as highly of him as many perceive or they anticipate trading him.
