This is absolutely the truth & when you can get one who is still top 10 at their position for that steal of a trade plus market value contract you pounce on it. Great job by Moug
With zero QB on the roster, cap space is not a true issue. A veteran, a leader, and a home grown NJ kid. Hope to get two good years out of him and a mentor for Moore. Good move, we usually strike out in FA anyways so lets not forget that..
I'd go after another. It is a very strong safety class in FA so you could probably get the 6th best option for cheap, still a solid starter. Maybe someone like Blankenship from the Eagles or Bryant from Seattle, championship experience to pair with Fitzpatrick.
I like this trade, it helps bring in some quality veteran leadership, immediately tells me they are not drafting a safety with either of their 1st round picks. It also tells me Mougey might just be the right guy for this job, seems like he gets it and maybe is starting to get comfortable building this team. I'm definitely looking forward to the draft and seeing the young talented players he’s bringing in.
your level of knowledge is lacking but surely if you paid attention to your own team, the Bills, rebuilt their team on the backs of 2 veteran safeties in Hyde and Poyer.
Jesus, you going to come on here like a massive bellsniff every time the Jets make a move? Don’t you have any antifreeze to guzzle?
for a 7th and a 3 year deal? I like it. Oh wait, Bills over Jets thinks it's stupid, so I take it back.
He is not 30 yet, he is 29, turning 30 mid November. Most likely a 2 year guaranteed, this and next year. We are giving up a 7th, not much at all (I think it is just 1 point on draft score chart) for a big upgrade at a much needed position. Now I know you think the Jets have no chance at play-offs in the next 2-3 years, but we have to at least try. This is a very good trade. Probably only made possible because Miami are paying arm and a leg to Tua not to play for them. Again, a VERY GOOD trade.
You hit the nail in the head, we don't have spots for 10 drafted rookie plus UDFAs. Some people are just overthinking it. We still have 9 draft picks after we just gave up a 7th for a very good starter. Yes, 7th for a very good starter and we have 9 picks. Don't overthink it, this is a no brainer, great move. Heck, I would have been upset if someone else got him for the 7th when we need someone like him and have a DC from Miami. Mooge delivered the goods here, another solid trade for us.
Excellent start to the offseason. We desperately needed a S and got one for a 7th rounder. Hard to be upset about this one.
A rebuild does not mean throwing a team of 1 to 3 year players out there and expecting them to figure things out. You need veteran leadership. While 30 is not as young as we would like he is still much younger than CJMosely was when we were leaning on him. With all of our draft capital we are not going to miss a seventh rounder who would have been a special teamer at best.
First move a very good one. A lot of leadership is desperately needed on both sides of the ball. Mooge knows his shit. Now on to getting us OL help.
Hard to argue this move…I get the comment on rebuilding but man, this was literally nothing in draft comp…a 7th? Half those players don’t make the team in 2 years…so great trade for a very good player…sure not what he was 5 years ago but a huge upgrade at safety, a position of need. Smart trade by Mougey and yeah, sure feels like he knows what he’s doing. Good get here
Obviously a lot has to play out but Mouge keeps proving he can do the job. Briggs, Brownlee, Phillips, Fitzpatrick... all starters, none cost more than a 6th round pick. If he can hit on even half of this draft class and be shrewd in FA, we got ourselves one. Just have to pray he doesn't get shown the door because our owner is an idiot and overreacts to a bad season.
