News just broke that the Cardinals plan to release Kyler Murray. i think you gotta go get him. I wasn’t a fan at this current contract and/or having to trade for him. Now that you don’t have either, he’s a good option for a short term contract
He's a (slightly?) more competent version of Justin Fields in terms of having great mobility but only using it when he feels like it, takes too many sacks, not durable, doesn't keep his eyes downfield when he scrambles and doesn't execute the playbook or read defenses very well. Also no leadership. I know we're looking for a bridge QB but maybe somebody different this time. Plus he's only an inch taller than Wes Welker.
I wouldn't hate it now that I no longer hate our offensive coaching room. But with that said something about putting Kyler at the head of a monumental ask of turning around the worst franchise in professional sports, in what can be one of the most toxic media environments in sports, just doesn't jive there as good people fit imo. Too much of a pressure cooker situation for guy that likely needs more cuddling then he's going realistically find here when we spend the next year or 2 still spitting out losing rebuild seasons.
For the minimum? That’s the best option we’re gonna find albeit a bad one. I think he ends up in Minnesota or Miami though.
I saw this as inevitable. Cardinals were not keeping him and nobody was trading for him. Now you hope he comes here. He's really not that bad. Maybe he will grow up a bit too.
I don't know enough about Murray, but what I do know is (little) makes me wonder about chemistry and culture.
Not so sure on that. Murray has more of a Derek Carr release type feel to it imo. I don't think he gets Carr money, but if Minny and/or Miami end up showing a serious interest in him I wouldn't guess he is going to come cheap or on a 1 year deal.
much much better passer than Fields. A lot smaller though for sure. Fields couldn’t dream of completing passes to his level I think Murray is a smaller, more aloof version of Dak Prescott.
No thank you. I don't want another team's trash. Been there done that in 2025. Get me a rookie QB or two.
Signing Kyler would probably be one of the only FA options I would guess eliminates the fairly good chance we spend a top 4 pick reaching early on a QB in the upcoming draft. So there would potentially be added value in that I guess? Especially if we would of otherwise seen the 16th overall pick go on Simpson
I don't see the purpose of a 'bridge' vet QB for the Jets. These guys already flushed one season down the toilet. Nothing was built here in 2025 just about everyone got fired except the head coach. So what? Now we're supposed to forget year #1 never happened 2026 is year #1? We already know they're not going to win a lot of games in 2026 so stop wasting time by playing a 'bridge' vet QB. What are they afraid of? They've been loading up on high draft picks OL (and DO bring back Vera Tucker), they have Wilson, Taylor and Breece is coming back. This offense froma talent stand point is just about ready to go. They needed some brains that's where Frank Reich comes in and a few more pieces. This is not or shouldn't be a disastrous situation for a rookie QB(s) to step into. If they want a 'vet' QB to play early in 2026 play Cook some more.
At some point we need to look competent. And “we should be tanking and hoping Glenn gets fired” is not a logical acceptable response. A bridge QB helps you assess talent which we couldn’t do last year almost at all. Is Mitchell WR2 or 3? Is Metchie viable? How good can Mason Taylor be? How much better can the OL be with a competent QB? Does Garrett Wilson want out by week 7? You answer none of those questions with garbage heap QBs
Hated having to trade for him and his contract but he will have an AZ size chip on his shoulder. It's his last chance probably, he should be all in but if we can get him for cheap then dump him after the year because he sucks great. On the off chance he plays like he did 4 years ago when he had 4k passing, almost 1k rushing and 40 TDs well then we have 3 firsts next year, hello Jeremiah Smith.
Keep in mind we have a much better line and a better WR/RB combo than AZ. Especially if we get a WR at 16.
Why assume a rookie QB can't step in and do a decent enough job if he has to? I'd rather see what Cook can do with a competent OC and with Garrett & Mason in the lineup and possibly a few more weapons early in 2026 than another team's throw away QB if they're not going to play a rookie QB from the start.
