Yeah Smith looks absolutely done He has given up so many pressures and sacks… Also watched Tippman…he’s no Mangold that’s for sure…too many times I see him helping out the wrong guard on a block only to be slow to turn and get a guy blitzing up the middle…he may get better but right now he’s a below average center But hard to know on this OL because I think so poorly of our OL coach Carter…I’d like to see a proven OL coach come in here and I bet this line would be playing MUCH better
I thought Tippmann was a second round pick? I agree that he's not very good. I'm not the most trained eye when evaluating O line and even I can tell he's making mistakes or getting man handled.
I started a thread a few weeks ago. People essentially called me nuts. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
Isn’t this Tippman’s first real year starting? Give the guy a minute, will you? Lol. Olu wasn’t half bad at guard, which is surprising for me. His anchor looked ok there. Imo he needs to play, somewhere, anywhere. You can’t tell me he’s not one of the best 5.
Who exactly called you nuts? https://forums.theganggreen.com/thr...oves-offensive-line-is-most-important.100503/
The OL seem to have improved when Olu came in for Hansen at RG. Even that hold honestly, was a bit bullshit. The guy just fell back, he didn't turn around, at which point Olu would have to let go to avoid a hold. It just seemed like BS, let me know what you guys think. I mean if this is a hold, then on the last drive there are at least 4 holds on Tonsil against McD. None were called, and these seemed more obvious.
Didn’t go back to watch that play…but FOR SURE the Texans were holding on just about EVERY play at the end there…a couple were totally blatant holds where our DE’s had their arms up and still no calls That was brutal
Usually when they come face to face they basically grab a jersey all the time and that is allowed. However, say a defender beat you and there is some angle/rotation, at that point you have to let go and allow the defender to move. If not, you will get called. Which is why that Smith call which wiped out a TD earlier this season, while was very soft, I could see some of that, though very little. At least that is how I see it being refed, feel free to correct me if I am wrong. On Olu's play the defender didn't really turn, but stumbled back and fell. I just don't see this as a foul. On the Tonsil holds I could see McD clearly beat him and create angle, but still it was not called.
I agree I thought that was a bad call at the time and just going from now 2 day old memory I think what got the flag was there was one little point where Olu had the guy's jersey in his hand but it had no bearing whatsoever on anything. I think the ref just saw that little jersey handful even though he released almost immediately. That whole holding call thing has been one of the shittiest parts of NFL football for years now. You can't allow it or everybody will do it but the ticky tack calls that aren't even "real" holds sometimes like Olu the other day end up changing the entire flow and even outcome of games. I've got no solution exactly but the whole thing just stinks.
I thought he played a good game at guard as well when I went back and watched. I advocated for him being slotted in there a couple weeks ago. Young OT prospects can make really good guards in year one and then kick out and be good tackles with playing experience early.
Well, - we have a shot at him now if we want. Washington said he'll be released once the FA period opens up. He'll be 29 around Thanksgiving 2026. PFF put him in the top half of the league centers. Put him next to fellow Badger Joe Tippman. We CAN'T go into 2026 with Josh Myers as the starting center. He's practically the worst at the position in the entire league. Oooooofffffff, ---- La'Mical Perine, James Morgan & Cameron Clark ==== all drafted ahead of Biadasz in the 4th round back in 2020. When you add 2nd rounder Denzel Mims & 3rd rounder Jabari Zuniga ---- that pretty much sums up why we suck. That's 5 guys around 27-28 yrs old & aren't even playing football anymore.
That guy has soooo many teams interested. We would definitely have to bring the biggest bag to reel him in.
We have the bag to offer. Unfortunately I’m sure he stays in Baltimore. He’s another guy I was interested in the Jets drafting.
The problem with the Jets oline is the poor QB play, They were more than capable of giving Fields plenty of time, after a while teams know your QB sucks and are going to blitz and force the QB to make plays and beat them. That being said, I think Jets can get away with this oline for one more season if they can get a better QB in the building, add another quality receiver to help Wilson, this offense can be good under Reich.
I was very vocal about upgrading Tippman last offseason and people were tearing me up. He’s the weakest link on our OL by far.
He played well at guard this year, he’s part of the solution not the problem. The weakest link was by far John Simpson and I think that’s going to become obvious when we let him walk. They honestly played well enough that a “weak link“ doesn’t mean what it used to back in the days of Vlad Ducasse and Matt Slauson. Myers is probably the closest thing to a weak link. I think we can all agree a C upgrade would be welcome. But there’s no need to mess with the right side of the line. They were fine.
