Guess it's that time of year for now, wanted to post this but didn't have a thread that fit so here we go. This article has us signing Pickens lol, don't see that happening but he's pretty f'n good. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2026-n...ocial&utm_campaign=dhtwitter&utm_content=null
Alec Pierce has the most appeal. Young enough to still play hard through the length of the contract and a big tall X receiver. Obviously would love to go get Linderbaum but I doubt he makes it to FA. I like Nick Cross, the safety from the Colts. Versatile player that developed a bit slow but is still only 25 at the beginning of the season.
Sign Pierce AND draft Lemon at #16. Mitchell is #4 and let Metchie and Smith battle it out in training camp for #5. Those two additions drastically change the WR dynamics…. I don’t see Linderbaum wanting to play for the Jets which is unfortunate because they need a true center. I don’t think Meyers is the long term answer - decent swing guard though. I could see him playing LG if Simpson leaves. Leave Tippman at RG. Any decent centers in the draft?
I can't do Pickens. Last thing we need is another Steeler cast off "head case." We don't have a Dak Prescott nor a Cee Dee Lamb to keep his ass in line. Is there ANY chance Lemon falls to 33?
If he commits a crime before the draft or acts like an asshole during combine interviews. Other than that the Jets have shorter odds to win the Super Bowl next year than Lemon falling to 33.
There are some good linebackers in here, some corners and edges as well. I don't see us making a splash with Hendrickson, Lloyd etc but Oweh and some of these other guys are possible with the money we have. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-free-a...ocial&utm_campaign=dhtwitter&utm_content=null
I think the jets would be wise to grab a linebacker, corner and possibly receiver in FA. Ones that are immediate contributors. At the very minimum linebacker
Spotrac has Pierce at 4/80 and I think he’ll get even more. I don’t think he even hits the open market personally but if he does, we shouldn’t be offering what it will take to get him to join us.
They’d have to be real creative to fit him in. Indianapolis has $34-36 million in cap space right now. Their starting right tackle, quarterback, safety, starting edge, 2x rotational edges, 1x rotational defensive tackle are all free agents.
It is to an extent but they don’t have a ton they can do to restructure to fit in a $20 million receiver. They’ll have to give Daniel Jones $35+ million per year to retain and they’ll have to be very creative with that structure alone.
Pierce is a luxury add and will probably go a team who's closer to competing. That is definitely not the Jets. Besides you have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds and WR is one of the most important positions of need. Mougey and staff would be fools not to use one of these picks to address this position.
I get it. But remember when the Saints were like $60 million over the cap and then signed Carr that off-season?
