https://x.com/i/status/2018314890641887534 "Frank Reich is the name that has generated the most buzz in connection with the Jets' offensive-coordinator vacancy, but keep an eye on Darrell Bevell. It wouldn't shock me if he gets the nod. Their plan was to narrow it to 3 finalists, as @JFowlerESPN reported Saturday. Greg Roman also in the mix. Today a key day. #Jets"
The way we potentially get there is all sorts of fucked but there is way way worse options out there than a team of Frank Reich calling the plays, Darrell Bevell coordinating the pass game and Greg Roman coordinating the run game.
https://x.com/RichCimini/status/2018069004938522762 Why are we letting TE coach go? I mean if new OC wants to bring someone better in, OK I guess, but we do not even have an OC yet. TE room was actually decent. Ruckert greatly improved and Taylor looked good too.
The Jets are going to have so many openings on the coaching staff that they might have to hold a job fair to fill them.
Good thing it's early in the process when everyone is available. Oh yeah, it's way late so we are shopping in the NFL geriatric ward for 3 guys that haven't had a single other interview.
They were a decent combination. But Douglas stuck them with the worst QB in the league and then scapegoated them. They knew they'd be fine getting jobs post-Jets as long as they didn't give themselves a reputation as backstabbers, so they let Douglas backstab them and then happily moved on. Whereas Douglas knew he'd never get another GM job because he's incompetent, so he did what desperate people do and backstabbed them to keep his job as long as possible. An owner with a triple digit IQ would recognize what was going on, but Woody's an actual idiot, so he fell for it and let it happen.
You assume there was a plan and someone better than Engstrand that they were targeting. Don't assume!
Because our HC keeps pointing the finger of blame at all the guys who he asked to hold onto the rope, and then cuts the rope.
We didn't get rid of him, he left. Let's not act like we knew this dude's name before yesterday. Of course people are going to take a better job if it's offered when they have no idea who they will even be working for with the worst run franchise in the entire league.
Let's not act like anyone said we got rid of him. We are literally a day away from hiring an OC. Not 3 weeks, but about 1 day. Wouldn't it make sense to see if the new OC would want to keep him? Whether we know his name or not is irrelevant: TEs were pretty decent last season. He can't leave unless it's a promotion to the OC, which he is not getting. My question is why are we letting him go now, when the new OC can make this decision literally within a day or so and might actually want him?
Telling someone they can't go take a job because we want to see if the new guy will fire you is not great business.
The new OC probably does bring in new position coaches. I dont see the big deal. The Jets could've blocked this as it is a lateral move. But that woulda been a dick move
