I am not sure why we are even comparing Gabriel to Moore. Gabriel was a great college QB, but was short, unathletic, and weak armed. Plus he was old when he played well. Moore also had a very good year in College for the same school, even led his team to SF vs Gabriel's loss at QF, but the key is he has all the physical tools, beautiful arm, plus young. Herbert from the same school would be a better comparison, if you are looking at Oregon, but I don't even see a point to focus just on Oregon. They are just completely different prospects, Moore a MUCH better one, regardless of whether they went to the same school or not.
I had a dream last night the Jets picked Fernando Mendoza with the 16th overall pick. Need to stop coming here before bed.
Today is the day for Dante Moore to declare and sit out a year learning from the great Tyrod Taylor as Qb1
Damn! Mateer was a guy I was hoping would slip some and the Jets could take a chance on. He played hurt all year. Has a serious arm and upside. What a bad year to need a Qb.
Actually, it's par for the course. EVERYONE had to know that, because the Jets are absolutely desperate for a QB, there wouldn't be jack available. Mougey better be pounding that FA drum NOW because there isn't going to be shit to draft.
Sounds like Simpson is the only potential 1st round prospect left (Chambliss may win the case and stay, but even he does not, I would not pick sub 6 footer with the 1st round pick. Even the guys who were picked 1st overall and dominate college who have this frame are not that great in the NFL, like Young and Murray). Any takers with #16 if he is there or a potential trade up from 33 a la Giants/Dart?
I like this one, he'll never be a long term starter but he comes in and completes as a backup, provides a spark and is accurate. Arm strength is around the Mike White range though. He's the guy that kept coming in when Mac Jones would get hurt in New England and make him look bad. We could and have done a lot worse at backup. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/its-that-time-of-the-year-again.100662/page-2#post-4442059
Not that he was much of a prospect anyway but Diego Pavia measured in at 5’9 at the Senior bowl. Ain’t no teams drafting a 5’9 QB
The Reich hire worries me with the QB, I really hope we don't take one especially a reach for one in the first. Second? Maybe but don't love it. Drafting a QB this year is the equivalent of a struggling couple having a baby to try and save the marriage, it's a horrible idea but I can see Glenn doing it.
Watching some Senior Bowl coverage on ESPNU and I really like Garrett Nussmeier. Obviously this season was a mess for him and LSU but super upbeat kid based on the all-access they just showed with him mic’d up. Good arm and not scared in the pocket. 23 starts is a little light but at least it was at a SEC school. I wouldn’t be scared of taking him in the 2nd.
With that nifty little draft tool I was able to get him in the 3rd and that's AFTER trading back with Seattle for a couple more picks! If only it were all real!! LOL!!!
Just saw his measurements: 6-1 202lb, 8 6/8 hands. https://x.com/FrankieVitz/status/2016653636730851400 A bit short, small hand, older, didn't have a great season. You mentioned fewer starts than ideal. You sure 2nd round is not too high for him?
Maybe but we don’t have a 3rd and he’s probably the 3rd or 4th QB off the board. If you watch him, his height doesn’t seem to affect his willingness to throw to spots. 6’1” is also fine.
I feel the exact opposite about the Reich hire. Putting a vet and functional NFL coach in that OC room goes a long way with me. I was at a hard 10 reservation level in my belief that any non-1st round commitment QB was a complete waste of 2026 draft resources. Zero shot any of that shiny toy appeal would have carried over into 2027. A Reich hire, and in which I really like the idea not necessarily being married to AG, would take that down to a 5-6.
I am really worried they are going to bring Kyler Murray. This would be a giant waste of CAP and assets. At this point I am hoping for Wentz or someone that does not need much assets/CAP spent. I would even be OK with Simpson. But making a "splash" like Murray, wasting massive resources, is the worst case scenario.
id take Nussmeier in the draft. I’ve agreed with you for awhile on him. He’s one of these guys that could be a better pro than a collegian. His anticipation is good even if his choices suck, if that makes sense I wouldn’t go 2nd though. I know we don’t have a 3rd but I think there’s always an opportunity to move up or down and end up in the middle/late 3rd which is where I’d take him
