So the Bills fired McDermott because the staff was the problem but they made the most senior member of his staff the new HC and hope that he can hire a better DC than McDermott. Seems like they're pissing in the wind but I'm fine with it. They have to go with the guy Josh Allen wants and that's who he wanted clearly. It's all on Beane now... can't blame the staff for all your problems then barely change the staff.

    Woody is the problem.
Maybe ICE can shoot him and his retard son next.
Otherwise we have no chance of escaping him.

He's only been there for 3 years. Top 5 offense every year. Yes, they have Allen, but other teams have great QBs too and better supporting cast than Buffalo. We've seen 1st hand how easily they out schemed us. Trubisky was throwing TDs, which many people on this board would have thrown too after getting wasted at the tailgate. So, they maintained offensive continuity and do a search for a better DC to improve defense.

I don't get the point in reference you keep making to "hope". Same one you did about potentially replacing our HC. Yes, they will do a DC search and will try to upgrade a DC, which is actually smart, since that's the area that was lacking. Unfortunately it's a solid plan. Now we need to hope they will fail, because I am worried they can actually get better.

Everybody out-schemed us this year. Even the worst teams that we played had receivers running free all over the place. It wasn't anything special that Brady (or any of the other OCs for that matter) was doing as opposed to the incompetence that our defense put on display each week.

I would submit that the only thing that D was missing was a healthy Ed Oliver. When he was in, they were good. When he wasn't in, they weren't good. Even when he came in and played hurt they were better, then when he had to go back out they got worse immediately.

I know everyone did, but to a different degree. He did it twice, once even before we traded Q and Sauce, and second time when they played back-ups too. it was way worse than others I felt aside from Coen. Again, I am hoping Brady and the Bills fail now, just concerned that they will actually get even better. That was one source of joy for us that at least the Bills can never get to SB or rarely even championship game.

This is all very surface level stuff you're talking about. It's not as easy as "all they have to do is hire a better DC".

-Brady is a first time head coach that's been passed up for other head coaching jobs for going on three years. He flopped in Carolina and only had success once he got with Josh Allen... who made Ken Dorsey and Brian Daboll look good.

-They already have the best run game in the league. They have to keep that up and then hope they can improve on what was already a good passing offense that was being run by a perennial MVP candidate. They aren't going to get much better on offense... 4th in yards, 4th in points. Even jumping up to 1st across the board which is highly unlikely isn't going to solve their problems.

-Their defense is above average... 12th in points, 7th in yards. How do they make that defense better? You're hoping (not sure why that's weird to you) that you can hire a DC that will be better than what got you to those ranks. You're also banking on health (see: Ed Oliver) which is never something you want to do in the NFL. McDermott ran his defense and helped call plays. You just removed him from the equation. You're "hoping" that you can do better than what you just got rid of despite what you got rid of being really good.

-They have a ton of free agents and almost no money to bring them back let alone add talent which they need to do. Their starting G and C are both UFAs with market values far above what the Bills will be able to give both of them... not great if you're trying to have the best run game in the league again. Joey Bosa, AJ Epinesa, Matt Milano, Shaq Thompson, Daquan Jones, TreDavious White, Jordan Poyer... all starters on the defense, all UFAs. Not great if you're trying to improve your defense.

So what changed by replacing McDermott with Brady? Outside of an upgrade at DC which is not going to be easy considering where they already were, the guys they'll likely lose and the inability to bring new guys in... what changes?

For one they do not have to be worried about changes to the offensive scheme. Brady could have been picked off by someone else (like by us), which could set them back, like it did when Daboll left. Dorsey was not as good and fired later. McDermott is a defensive guy, and 12th defense is not so great for a SB contending team. The ones in the SB this year are #1 and #4. There is room for improvement there if he can find a DC who is better than McDermott. Vrabel does not call plays, he found a good DC, Liam Coen did too.

These are games of inches. An improvement here and there, and it's the Bills who could be going to SB. And there is room for improvement on defense over McDermott that Brady could possibly facilitate. Again #12 for SB contending team is not amazing. If Brady can find someone better, which I showed you the examples of new HCs that just did, it would really suck for us.

    Just came across this: https://x.com/RobbySabo/status/2016129054311645472

@NJJets called this one on Tanny. I thought it was better than Woody doing the search himself, but Tanny seems to be just as dumb if not more. And I already knew that seeing his recent debates with Jase Asman I posted earlier, where Jake wiped his ass with Tanny. But this is next level.

Emphasis on leadership over Xs and Os! No wonder we get out schemed every fucking time...

One less problem we have to worry about as Buffalo will fall back now with Brady. I imagine he will get 2-3 years before they fire him by then Allen will be older and probably looking to get out.

Pats still a concern and yeah we have our own problems but this was good news for us today

You thought the same about Ben Johnson giving Gase vibes. We just don't know, these young Xs and Os nerds are dangerous. Brady could be good. I really hope you are right though, better Bills would really be bad for us, i really liked where they were before with McDermott, never able to break through.

Brady is not a young X and O nerd. His scheme is outdated, not new or innovative

This is all surface level again. "Just get better!" Unfortunately it's not going to be easy for them and logic dictates a regression is equally as likely.

You didn't think he was running circles around our defense to the degree where you could probably throw the TD passes that Trubisky did? It sure looked like was getting guys VERY open.

You wanted to see a detailed Xs and Os plan here now how they can improve now that Brady is the coach to worry about the Bills? LOL

No I wanted to see you not ignore everything I said about how hard it will be to get better given the amount of guys they have to retain and their very limited resources to retain them or find replacements. But hey who can argue with "all the Bills have to do is get better and they'll be better"?

Your argument though is irrelevant to the coaching, which is what we are discussing here. This is the same reason you guys can't quite grasp why keeping Glenn is so bad. Coaching matters. Maintaining continuity on successful offense matters. We have no idea whom they are going to draft, how much the owner is willing to spend, how they want to push CAP down the road, which UDFAs they will get that hit. We are not able to fully analyze this and determine the impact. At least not until they start making moves. So, your attempt to do so is simply incomplete. Moreover it would be same for any coach whom could be hired, so it is irrelevant in this discussion.

What's relevant is that they maintained offensive continuity with young Xs and Os nerd, like of which have been successful lately, and will have an opportunity to find a better coach on defense than McDermott was. At least that is a valid argument why they might get better that has me concerned. Instead you show complete disregard for them maintaining offensive continuity and who can come in to coach defense, which is exactly the same root cause why you can't grasp the concept why people want Glenn gone in a bad way.

How much you want a bet the Bills regress, in a BIG way. I've got $100...
