Just think: If Woody had fired Bowles a year earlier, Gase a year earlier, Bob a year earlier, he could have fired Glenn before he even hired him! Once we can fire a coach before he's even hired and lock up the #1 overall pick in the same year, the path to the Jets Grail will finally be revealed!
Woody just has the causality backwards. He thinks continuity is what leads to success rather than success leading to continuity.
LOL. But the point is that we thread through the losers much quicker until (if) we hit. So, the play-off less cycle does not have to take 20 years, but could be reduced significantly.
Add Tanner Engstrand to the list. He was dealt a shitty hand. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47745686/jets-oc-tanner-engstrand-parting-ways-sources-say
Wow…so I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 2nd year coach turn over pretty much his entire staff like this…DC, OC, many positional coaches AG is basically saying he fucked up almost every coaching hire he made Not saying it’s not warranted as we were abysmal on both sides of the ball, but man oh man, I’ve just never seen it What does Woody think? Ok, my new HC is throwing out almost all of his coaches and I’m letting him pick new ones in basically a do-over Only Jets…
And, not to mention, it'll almost certainly be coaches who aren't as good as the ones he's letting go. This thing is basically the Titanic at this point. Who in their right mind is going to sign on to come aboard when the ship is almost completely sunk?
There's not a single solitary OC or DC worth half a shit that will touch this nightmare. Frank Reich is on his LAST possible stop before no more NFL life for him. The kind of coach we do NOT need.
Funny, some teams appear to select far few losers than other teams. That indicates to me that it's not just a question of continuing to roll dice until you hit sixes.
With Woody you need to roll a lot. We are talking about complete imbecile here. So, more of a reason to do it quickly.
For sure Woody will ALWAYS make the wrong decision. Count on it. It was wrong to hire Glenn in the first place as (a) his defenses while a DC were no great shakes, and (b) the success of his team was coming from the offense not the defense, as Ben Johnson showed us by taking Chicago to the playoffs. It was wrong to hire another rookie DC for this team at this time. Just like Woody is making the wrong decision now in keeping AG and letting him fire basically his entire staff and scapegoat others that he himself hired a year ago. We will always be fighting an uphill battle as long as Woody is in charge
I don't see how the team is supposed to follow Aaron Glenn as head coach if he's the only guy that survived the off-season. This is a ship at sea that is constantly on fire and somehow never sinks.
You know, that is absolutely the best analogy I have ever read when it comes to the NY Jets. Well done sir!
