I feel very similarly. Which is why I was really hoping Moore would declare. At least we could have a QB with some good potential, which yes this CS would not develop, but he could come in later in the season and show some flashes, which could help attract a new coach, and the next one might develop him. Now, there is very little hope for next year, even with the #2 pick. Basically we hope we could get a good DE for next year while winning 3-5 games. And it will probably be 5, so that we cannot draft a QB with good potential next year either.
It's going to go better the way it's currently set up. The new coach they hire next January will have at least 3 first round picks to select his own QB. That opportunity will be what attracts someone to the job, not a developmental prospect that some of the HC candidates might not prefer over others coming out in next year's draft. Whether we took a QB at #2 or not, the 2026 New York Jets are going to be a complete and total dumpster fire. Better to have a clean situation at QB for the next coach to shape in the way that he and the next GM see fit.
No way. Moore was going to be drafted second because this is one of the worst QB classes in recent history. Giving a coach a clean slate and three first round picks is a significantly better sell.
I think we all feelthe same way... it is just unfathomable that Woody hasn't fired this stiff. 79 got it right. its a cluster fuck.
That's what I'm seeing everywhere. Engstrand will be demoted back to PGC and would be my guess a more experienced OC will be on board minus the title because of the bad optics for Glenn.
This is such a backwards ass way of doing things lol, unreal. Fire everyone except the architect of this shit show, this organization deserves all the shit it gets.
It's insane that we didn't fire Glenn. Especially with all the coaches that were available this cycle... Woody is an actual moron when it comes to football... Satan is good man.. I see it. I see you mother fucker... I get it. Yep. Fucking, guy. It's unreal. Twilight zone type stuff.
I don’t care how good (or bad) your coaching is, if you don’t have talent, you’re not going to win. That the Jets fired so many coaches from a talentless team is somewhat comedic. I thought we saw this movie before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can't see Kingsbury hitching his wagon to not just the Jets, but this current version of the Jets, after having been let go from two other incredibly dysfunctional franchises. When it's all said and done, the most common responses to who the Jets hire will either be "Who?!" or "Him!?". I very seriously doubt anyone is going to be even moderately excited about either of these hires.
My bad. Going back, it appears as though I didn't do a very good job of reading. I'm still not sure he'd would want sign up with yet another dumpster fire franchise, but having three first round picks and the chance to select his own QB could be enticing enough to overcome the rest of the baggage. He's nowhere near the top of my list, but I get why he's a popular name for a lot of people.
He's not near the top of mine either lol but he's better than what we have and I think he would have been in the mix. Love the avatar, I never wanted them to get rid of Sam, definitely a Hawks fan tomorrow. I have a picture of my son with Sam when he was little, I told him the other day it'll be cool if he wins the SB and he has a pick with him. Miss me some Sam...
That's pretty cool. I never wanted to get rid of him either. Always thought he showed enough, despite terrible coaching, to be the guy long term. I still remember that game he hung right in there against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers and almost pulled out the victory with Robbie Anderson and Chris Herndon as his two best offensive weapons. Should have kept him, traded down, and built around him. Might be in a completely different place now than we are staring ahead at a season that's over 7.5 months before it even starts.
