You think so though? Wink’s never been a head coach and I don’t know that he’s ever even been interviewed, at least seriously.
I am not sure the floor high though. In his last year with the Giants his defense finished 26th. The days when he was top for Baltimore are gone. He was let go 3 times by 3 teams since 2022. And yes, Michigan HC banged the staffer I now know, but still he could have been retained if he was so good, and I do not see high floor you and some others do given he was let go 3 times in last 3-4 years. It wasn't just someone else banging a stuffer, he was let go by 3 teams in very short time span. This reminds me a lot of Wilks, who was actually more successful in SF than Wink was with the Giants. Yes, different scheme, but still, I am not convinced at all Glenn/Wink defense can work out. This is not a high floor to me, this can easily be Glenn/Wilks 2.0. Very underwhelming hire if it happens.
Ya they are all getting fired anyways next year.. probably midway through… at least he would be entertaining as a interim coach
Lots of chatter that the top DC candidates aren't even interested in interviewing for our job. General aversion to Woody and feeling they'd be hitching their wagons to a lame duck coaching staff. The consequences of not firing Glenn know no bounds.
Wait till we hit FA and "his guys" like Anzalone don't touch this team. We will end up with crazy over pays and picking up scraps for it.
I actually think maybe slightly the opposite. We’re going to end up with the shitty players from Detroit that are his guys that were probably part of the problem this year as they age out of effectiveness. Anzalone has 3 years/$50 million written all over him asa 32 year old Jet.
Jets hired Ulbrich as interim when they fired Saleh. Obviously this is just my take on AG, while Wink has not been considered a HC, Woody might consider firing Glenn sooner if he has someone he believes can step in.
In Araujo example, he actually preferred DB coaching job with Jacksonville to a potential DC here: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...dolphins-cbs-coach-mathieu-araujo/ar-AA1UG1NV . DC for a year is not some life changing money, where you take it and don't look back. More money, but short term, move your family around likely twice in 1 year, etc... This is a very unattractive place right now with lame duck failure of a coach still in place. The more we learn the dumber the decision to keep Glenn looks... And it was retarded to begin with.
You're drawing a ton of conclusions here. You have no idea if he was even called for a second interview. He's a bad DC candidate considering his resume and lack of experience, I don't know why we're pretending we got spurned by Brian Flores here.
I feel pretty strongly it's going to be either Wink or Chris Harris. And that neither will work out. Jim Leonhard, Daronte Jones, and some of these other names sound more promising to me. I'd rather have Glenn call the defense
Fair enough. Hard to tell what really happened, mostly a guess what it could have been, but we just don't know. Thank you!
Yeah, unless we can get someone really good like Leonhart, I would also prefer Glenn just to call the defense like he did for Detroit. No more - well that was Wink's defense that was bad, not mine. Being a defensive coach is how you got here. After a complete disaster with someone else last year, right the course yourself or go down with the ship.
