Right but my point is that he's not a DE. He's a hybrid dude that you can throw at like 4 different spots on the field. Everyone keeps saying "he's too _____ for a DE". But that shouldn't matter because he's not a DE. I know you agree I'm just explaining why I don't think it's all that valid to compare him to traditional NFL DEs.

Hughes says it's either Anthony Weaver or Zach Orr at DC for the Giants which means Leonhard would be choosing between Dallas and us, unless he interviewed elsewhere and it wasn't reported.

I haven’t been getting overly worked up over this DC hire really because I’m just so down on AG in general that I think is the bigger problem.

However, I have started seeing more articles claiming that we are not getting any interest from some of the better candidates due to the roster and the perception that AG is on the hot seat…also saying the good DC candidates will have better options. Nothing we all don’t already know, but now that I’ve seen a couple of articles saying this kind of thing, I’m thinking there probably is some truth to it all.

The fact that Harris may very well end up being the DC will speak volumes…the in-house defensive passing game coordinator…that same guy who set an NFL record with ZERO picks in the passing game…if that’s the best we can do then we’ll know for sure the stink of the Jets in general but specifically under AG as a lame duck guy in only his second year is fucking real. I think we all kind of know it and it makes total sense.

Still…I’m curious to see how this goes.

It’s still just crazy to me that in a year with so many coaching changes, and plenty of precedent for teams to move quickly and go one and done with a terrible coach, and in a year where there are(were) plenty of great candidates, that our idiot owner somehow believes that continuity with an all time terrible HC is better than action, we do nothing.

Compounded with a year where we manage to fully earn the 2nd overall pick, there are no great QB prospects other than Mendoza (and not even saying he’s great, but at least he’s legit)…

    Typical Jets…

    Great summation.

No DC is coming here, not that worth 2 shits anyway. While I am musing a number of thoughts occurred to me...

There is no doubt in my mind that this team will be shattering more turd based records this fall. Has there ever been a team with a RB that hasn't cracked the 500 yd. mark for a season? That one is on the list. We've already gotten the WR record out of the way. I think the RB one might be the last one, on offense, to fall.
This seems like a record the Jets can obtain, along with the rushing one.

On defense, since we're wasting time and energy on figuring out who's going to come here to add to our nasty legacy. Let's see here. We own the interception record, that will never be broken only potentially tied, shattered the least number of turnovers in a season with 4, breaking the 2019 record by the Saints who had 8. I'll bet we can obliterate the "Missed Tackles" in a season stat. Although, I couldn't find a team one, only individuals...which, strangely enough, has Mr. Vilma firmly planted at #3 on that list of all time missed tackles in a season. Patrick Willis was #1 so there's good company there. Ok, I'm stopping now, I'm making myself more sad than I already am. As it stands now, I'm done watching football for the 2025 league year. <sigh>

Yeah, I hope the jets can trade down from 2 overall, because about 2-16 overall look pretty close IMO. I KNOW it will be very difficult to trade down since there is no QB for anyone to move up and get.
However, I would like to see the jets move down from 2 but stay in the top 15, in round 1 and pick up a 3rd rounder and 5th rounder at least. This year Douglas' insane trade for Reddick and the third rounder we owe the Eagles for Reddick comes due.
Nice trade, Joe. Made about as much sense as your Zach Wilson pick and your McDonald pick. Dumb dip.

If we hire another Detroit lion we need to give our heads a shake… that team had success because of one guy. Ben Johnson. Everyone else rode his coat tails especially Aaron Glenn and even Campbell

I can't speak for Woody, but I would speculate that he is keeping Glenn for 1 more year at least for reasons other than continuity. I think the fact that Glenn has a 5 year contract may factor into it. No, not necessarily the money he would owe Glenn if fired, but it would be really embarrassing to Woody and the jets if they fired a coach 1 year into a 5 year contract. Makes it look like they made a a really bad decision to hire him in the first place, kinda of a "what were they thinking?".
I also believe that if the jets repeat their 3-14 record in 2026 Glenn will be shown the door.
