I think mauigoa will be long gone by number 16. He's the best offensive lineman in the entire draft and teams need OL
He was invisible against Indiana. Styles was the way better LB and Reese pass rush moves were swallowed by the OL who has 60 pounds on him
This draft is brutal, not only is there no QB at 2 there is also no sure fire blue chip overall prospect. All these guys have problems, Tate is injury prone, Bain has T-Rex arms, Reese is a tweener, Bailey has questions too. This sucks so bad, there is no way we can trade out, nobody worth trading up for. If Downs or Love are sure fire talents do you take one of those guys? I hate this draft, hopefully someone distinguishes themselves before April, otherwise we are just gambling on our coaching staff and scouting which historically isn't great.
We can seriously revamp this roster with some cornerstone additions in this draft. Here it goes: 2.) Bain (without question, his phenom performance last night against the best team in the country cemented himself as the selection) 16.) Kayden McDonald 33.) Surratt 44.) Chambliss This should give us one of the most disruptive, explosive young D lines and some future stars on offense.
Where do you get that Tate is injury prone? Ohio State was firmly in control of every game up until the Michigan game so I think they just held him and Smith out because they could win without them and they had minor injuries. He didn’t miss a game the two years before that for injury if I’m not mistaken.
Just so much strength and power. Yes, he's fast how he closes down on the ball carrier, and yes he's old school in that he's a fundamentally sound tackler. but I am most impressed with how he moves blockers. These linebackers we have now are one shot wonders, if the opponent gets a blocker on them, he's done, hes out of the play. He's done "his job" by absorbing a blocker, big deal though as he's out of the play himself. That's why we think our safeties suck because our linebackers are pushed out of the play and no one is there to finish the play. Reese though fights through blockers, I think they said he benches like 400 lbs and it shows. There was a play against Illinois, Reese lined up inside as a LB then kicked out right before the snap to the edge. He didn't trick anyone, Illinois knew he was doing that, the right tackle was right there for it. The tackle probably had close to 100lbs on him and locked on him. It didn't matter, Reese freaking took the tackle with him to the QB for a sack. I agree with someone here who posted that Bain is probably a solid, consistent, 10 sack edge in this league, whereas Reese has more potential, 15 sack/ DPOY potential. At number 2 overall I'm taking the potential
It's so depressing and after watching last night it hurts 10 fold cause Mendoza is the perfect QB for us. Not only is the draft a downer. But the HC carousel this year was nothing short of amazing and we did nothing. I don't see us winning 5 games next year even if we hit on all 4 top picks which we know isn't happening.
Sorry, meant Tyson. From what I've heard he's the best WR prospect but hurt all the time. Tate might fit better since he's bigger and Tyson seems like a GW comp

Which games did you see Reese dominate at the same level as Bain did against a multitude of Top 10 teams including against the best team in the country last night? Also how did Reese do against that same team, Indiana? Also hand usage is a much more meaningful metric than bench press when evaluating a rush end. I mean bench is an "ok" indicator but hand usage is way more important to being an impact rusher off the edge.
Reese dominated Texas week 1. He dominated Illinois and was completely unstoppable against Penn State. People started keying on him after that, including Indiana. His Indiana game as "poor" is a little overstated. They made him their priority every time and he was the spy on Mendoza a lot. Which worked, I mean it was Indiana's lowest output all season largely because Ohio State had an answer for the RPO offense
So how do you explain Reese's major fade down the stretch? His total stats in those final 5 games (post-Penn St) were: 8 tackles, 1 TFL and 0 sacks. Now compare that to Bain in his last 5 games? It's not even close. Bain dominated the stat line and the eye test. Also Bain did it against the best teams all year. He was more dominant against better comp than Reese. I'm taking consistent output, disruption, and power everyday over upside/limited track record of only 1 season of high level production. Not to mention they were both the priority for opposing team's offensive gameplans and Bain rose to the occasion down the stretch with 4.5 sacks in the playoffs alone, not to mention the amount of pressure and disruption he caused. I'm taking the more consistent, proven player everyday and it's not all that close IMO.
Agreed. Take away the players, the Jets need to hit on every pick. I'm taking the guy that's more consistent but still elite over the guy who may have a DPOY ceiling but maybe is more a hybrid player making it a little riskier. It's just the state of the franchise,
