Getting started on this. Working on my mock offseason & hope to have it out before the NFL FA time period only 6-7 weeks away (beginning at 12:00 noon, ET, on March 9 and ending at 3:59:59 p.m. ET, on March 11, clubs are permitted to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with the certified agents of players who will become unrestricted free agents upon the expiration of their 2025 player contracts at 4:00 p.m. ET, on March 12).

    Some initial preliminary must haves;
    Kamren Curl (S - LA)
    Tyler Linderbaum (C - Baltimore)

Some of you might actually be talking me into Malik Willis (QB - Green Bay)

I most definitely would not call Malik Willis a must have… He’s going to get paid and he’s going to go to the highest, dumbest bidder. Plenty of talent but not sure who thinks it’s a good idea to pay big bucks to a guy who has only played well for Matt LaFleur.

Curl and Linderbaum would be fantastic auditions but both of them will have far better suitors. Unless we severely overpay which we are probably going to have to do. I’m honestly not sure who you can convince to take our money so I think a big part of turning it around is going to be the first four picks of this year‘s draft. I think we’re going to supplement in free agency except for one or two “Big“ signings like Anzalone

Anzalone seems like the biggest no brainer of the off season. He's exactly what this team needs and fills a huge hole, I'm worried if he chooses somewhere else over the Jets it's because he has familiarity with Glenn and it hurts more than it helps.

I’m going to assume that anybody has an option to play for even a slightly above average team or the second worst team in the league they are going to choose the slightly above average team regardless of who’s on the coaching staff. Unless they are chasing money which I wouldn’t blame them… They never know when their next contract is their last contract. But anybody who is a legitimate starter in this league that gets offered two job jobs, almost every time they are going to go with the better one.

We go through this every year. No top FA is coming here.

We sucked big time in 25 but not quite bad enough. LA did a better job so they get the QB and again we are looking at the scrap heap. We need to suck equally as bad in 26 or worse to get their “targeted” QB in the 27 draft w/o using additional picks. Should not be hard with our head coach. Mougey is aware of this and although our cap space is large, I believe his spending will be somewhat frugal.

Don't let those voices in. Nothing screams disassociation from a reality where QB production doesn't "just happen" louder then somebody lobbying hard for *that* QB fit *here*. I mean sure...in an alternate universe where we don't end up regretting that Tanner Engstrand hire I'm sure there is a QB mold fit out there that he can actually make work. Absolutely nothing about what we saw last year though would rationally suggest it has a chance in hell of being another Justin Fields flyer type. Repeating that approach would simply be textbook insanity atm.

Given his age and general lack of good offensive upside type options that even reach FA I'm kinda guessing Kyle Pitts ends up being a FA name a lot of people here end up wanting to talk about.

It’s a weak defensive tackle class which sucks for us, but a really good linebacker class with some good safety depth.

Age reflects how old they’ll be at the start of next season. Below are some defenders I’d take a look at.

Nick Cross, S, Indianapolis - young guy who should hit the market looking for his second contract. Two years of starting experience (Age 25)

Jaquon Brisker, S, Chicago - versatile safety that was everyfriggainwhere yesterday against the Rams. Definitely a game. (Age 27)

Bryan Cook, S, Kansas City - another box safety that played in Spagnuola’s complicated blitz heavy scheme. Not many impact plays to his name. (Age 27)

Christian Harris, ILB, Houston - old school box linebacker we need badly. Got hurt last year and became a rotational linebacker after that. (Age 25)

Quay Walker, ILB, Green Bay - really good run stopping linebacker. He will likely command a big contract though and I’m wary sometimes of players who leave Green Bay. Temperamental too - he gets a lot of personal fouls and I believe he’s been ejected a couple times. (Age 26)

Devin Lloyd, ILB, Jacksonville - probably one of the prizes of defensive free agency. He can cover and had a bunch of big picks this year. Career year in a contract year though. (Age 28)

Nakobe Dean, ILB, Philadelphia - undersized guy that can cover and blitz really well. Fell in the draft because of injury concerns and has continued to get hurt in the NFL. Also has two monster defensive tackles in front of him. (Age 26)

Leo Chenal, ILB, Kansas City - young linebacker I don’t know a lot about. Just like Cook, plays in a complicated defense. Big dude. (Age 26)

Joseph Ossai, Edge, Cincinnati - I like the player and he really looked good towards the end of the year. I’m surprised he wasn’t more productive earlier on in his career. (Age 26)

Sam Williams, Edge, Dallas - He looked to be on an upward trajectory and then blew his knee to shreds in 2024. Not much of an impact on a bad defense this year. I’d buy low on him being two years removed from surgery. (Age 27)

Lloyd definitely was a big impact player for the JAGS this year.... contract year, or the fact that the whole team got better when new coaching staff came in?

There’s some really really nice names in here but you have to assume the Brisker’s, Walker’s and Lloyd’s of the world will be retained asap and probably overpaid by their current teams to do it. And rightfully so.

Good to see a deep safety class as we need one badly. I always liked Lloyd from back in his college days. I’d take a swing at him.

unfortunately though we are the Jets and will have to overpay any FA.

I'm ok with Malachi Moore having the track to start at one S spot, but they need to come out of free agency with a safety in what looks like a deep class. Caleb Downs would be a good get too, but 2 feels just a little high for a safety.

    Some great LB options too.

I'd love to come out of FA with one S, one LB and at least one DL.
