Mendoza to Raiders is a certainty but Beck is still in play for the Jets. Will move this to NCAA forum after the game.
Looking forward to this ball game. Mendoza being chased by Bain. Beck will be under a lot of pressure so it will be good to see how he handles it.
From looking at Beck's highlight vids, I think he's definitely an option. He has the height (6'-4") and a very accurate passer as well. Seems his deep ball looks refined and he has a certain swagger that would work well here. He'll need a mentor to show him the NFL game and an OC who isn't scared to open the playbook and challenge the kid.
Yes, I reviewed his Miami tape and posted on my one thread. I can copy/paste it here for you. He improved from his Georgia days. He definitely is seasoned and is pro ready. I think because the quarterback class is weak he could get pushed up to the 2nd/3rd round but I feel he is a day 3 talent. Carson Beck - I must say I thought I had him pinned as a prospect with his time at Georgia as a poor man’s Matt Ryan. Was I ever to quick to make judgment on the young man as he has improved tremendously in Miami. Strengths - Good physical tools standing 6’4”, strong arm with a quick release. Accurate short and intermediate passes. Throws with anticipation. Pre snap reads are decisive. Has the ability to pick up first downs on broken plays. Pure pocket passer that can pick teams apart with quick anticipation throws from the pocket that slows down the pass rush. Weaknesses - Post snap happy feet. Deep ball accuracy issues. Injury concerns on his throwing shoulder from his time at Georgia. Needs to display better leadership on the field. Can’t rely on his first read anticipation throws all the time. Needs to use his ability to scan the field better. Footwork although improved could be better. Overall/pro comp/Grade - after his time at Georgia I felt he would never be more than a backup in the NFL at best. Watching the Miami tape he has definitely improved some of the issues he had a Georgia holding the ball to long and heavy feet. His arm throwing passes on a line is nice but his deep balls need more velocity at the NFL level or safety’s will have too much time to get there. I think Beck can be a starter in the NFL in a west coast system that utilizes his short pass accuracy and anticipation throws. My comp for him is Brock Purdy. I have a grade of a C+ for him
The big knocks on him were questionable leadership and deep throws. I think the leadership question was answered.
His deep ball did seem to hang at times.. Other times they looked fine. He's got a few things to work on but they are correctable. Beck is better than what we have in the bldg. at the moment playing QB except maybe Tyrod.
Thank you my friend. Question for you. We have picks #2, #16, #33 and #44. Will #44 be to high for him or no?
yes.... and hopefully they get to use that on the kid from Ole Miss (which is an early dart throw as well)
I think if you love him you take him wherever you feel you can get him. With no 3rd I think we would have to take him at 44. Would I do it? No. As much as he’s improved I don’t see a franchise QB.
Nope, just a coincidence. Pat Coogan, the center for Indiana is a Notre Dame transfer. (#78) Aidan Fisher, LB, probably a mid round pick. (#4) Elijah Sarratt, WR reminds me of Steve Smith if he was 6’2”. (#13) Doubt we’d take a guard but Francis Mauigoa is in the class of Zach Martin or Quenton Nelson. He’s worth a first round pick and might be able to play RT. (#61) ^ also the brother of Jet great Kiko Mauigoa.
