While you're out there playing patty cake with your friend Pedro, your Uncle Rico is makin' 120 bucks.
I don't see good options at the moment. I think Russ is very possible. What about Tua & $ & pick 43 for nothing (like a 7th)? Tua makes a lot of $ & it would be helping a division rival that's looking at like a $99m dead cap it if they cut him. Does another mid-2d make up for his high salary & can Tua ever be resurrected?
Beck has proven he will not be a plus caliber starting QB. At this point, the only other QB who has a first round grade is Simpson. I would take him at 16 (he should still be there) and then go sign a veteran besides. I still remember when the Jets drafted Namath. Anybody else remember who they took in Round 2 that draft ? Well, it was John Huarte the Heisman winning QB. My point is that we have plenty of draft capital and it cant hurt to take two swings to finally solve the monstrous sized QB black hole that we have been living with. Get it done. Solve the problem. I cant take another 3 win season.
Were both of those QBs guaranteed to go to the Jets though? I know they both did, but it was still the NFL and AFL drafting the same players and those players choosing what league they wanted to play in. I would view those picks as the Jets hedging their bets on getting at least one of the QBs. Also they had 20 rounds in that draft. I'm pretty cool with taking a mid round QB this year, but taking one in the first round just to take one isn't my kind of thing.
You know, if coach woulda put him in fourth quarter, no doubt he’d have had at least as successful a career as Zach Wilson. No doubt in my mind.
If Simpson's draft stock rises high enough that he goes in the 1st then he likely isn't making it past Miami at 11. They won't leave a 1st round grade QB on the board. They need an answer to help offset the Tua contract problem, and it also buys Hafley some extra leeway insurance against the possibility of a one and done gig playing out if year 1 looks ugly.
If coach would have put him in during the 4th quarter they'd be state champs for sure. No doubt in my mind.
I don't think Miami takes him, there is smoke that suggests they are projected to go hard after Willis since it's basically Packers south down there. The Rams on the other hand, that's where he will go.
We offer Raiders #2 and #16 this year and a 1st in 2027 to move up for Mendoza. What you say? Edit: if adding #16 is too rich, maybe go #33 instead?
Not happening. Brady has a master plan to groom Mendoza into a Pro Bowl QB. The silver lining is we beat both Ohio teams and Atlanta this year. Everyone will remember those wins forever.
The only "proven" here is that you are not the guy to look to for sure thing QB draft opinion. I believe the following was your very first post at TGG: A few months later you added this: "I knew Darnold was no good from before he was drafted. Anybody who actually watched him in college and ignored the hype could have figured that one out."
So where’s the evidence that Beck can’t be a plus Caliber QB?? He’s rated behind Nussmeier and Simpson this year None of those guys took their Teams to the national championship game
Becks Record in College 37-6 Overall 24-3 at Georgia 13-3 at Miami and played in Nat Championship when you root for the Jets, all you see is loser I guess
