I want them to go with the worst possible QB room given the main goal for 2026 is to get the #1 pick for the 2027 draft (either that or they trade for someone good that wants a change of scenery and that has the potential to play at a high level for the next 5+ seasons like Burrows) worst case scenario for me is that they bring in a slightly below average veteran QB that ends up getting them 4 or 5 wins so it is another terrible season but we end up picking in the 3-6 range.
Think of it like this, typically the cut off date in schools is between Aug and Oct, but let's say August to be most generous. Meaning if you are born post August, you graduate at 18, but when you start school in Sept you may be 19 at worst. Most are still 18 though, but if you are born after August, you could just turn 19 or will turn 19 later that year. So, when you enter your senior season, you are typically 21, or at most turning 22 later that year (in this season's example August-Dec 2025). So, to me that should be the cut off right there. In some rare circumstances, like truly serious injury wiping out entire season or more, there could be a MAX one year exemption, where you could be 22 or even turning 23 Aug-Dec if you turned 19 during these months when you started College. But having guys playing for money like professionals post this age in their 6th season to me simply defeats the point of College competition. I understand a lot of players are not exactly studying hard for the grades, but at least they are college age and did not graduate years ago
If there's 10 options to solve the QB problem, the Jets will invent an 11th one out of thin air to avoid actually fixing it.
Who will be Penix backup that can be COUNTED ON to win football games WHEN Penix does go down? No, I do not believe Penix, Willis or a couple of these others to actually hit FA.
People, I don't know why you are shocked. The minute, and I mean the VERY second money entered the equation for the players, this was 100% going to be the outcome. It's WHY I keep harping on these people going BACK to school. Face it, it's the easiest money they will ever make, playing football. At the NFL, results are a must...against real competition. Back in school they can keep on beating up on children.
23 with redshirt. That should be it. But now, you are going to see 2 years juco, 5 years ncaa, so you could easily have a 26 yr old competing against 18.
After last year's team offensive showing and following Glenn spear heading the call to move on from Aaron Rodgers... I don't believe Glenn ends up with any real say in the matter. When i look at the list of free agent QB's Russ is by far the one that sticks out to me as the most likely "Jets" outcome. People really need to stop with the Malik Willis stuff already imo. There is no way in hell Woody is signing off on another (arguably) lesser quality Justin Fields type flyer. If we sign another Vet QB he'll want the bigger attention grabbing name on the board, and that is Russ. If i had to make a prediction today my money would be on a FO driven scenario of: - Signing Russ to a next to nothing cost contract (but one that essentially guarantees him a week 1 starting opportunity gig he won't find anywhere else) - Some type of trade up, after taking Love #2, to make sure we get Simpson as the new 2 headed foundation of "the future".
