Willis is more of an unknown though. He has a good throwing motion and wheels to go along with it although he’s not looking to run first. He does look like he makes the decision to run at a pretty quick rate rather than Fields who waits an eternity to run and then it’s too late.

He’s not my choice but I am somewhat intrigued by him. I think someone massively overpays for him though.

No 5'8" QB made anyone passing on him pay in NFL just yet... Speaking of shorties, I just read Chambliss' case: https://www.espn.com/college-footba...s-ole-miss-qb-chambliss-file-suit-mississippi

"In a supporting letter, Chambliss' doctor wrote that he suffered "recurrent throat infections, poor sleep quality, daytime fatigue, and exercise-related airway discomfort" throughout the 2022-23 academic year". WOW. I don't think they meant poor sleep when they they put a rule in to make an exception for "incapacitating injury or illness", more like torn ACL. I get it, the kid wants to make money, and I would do the same in his place, but this is a bit ridiculous. I mean NCAAF is supposed to be developmental League for 18-22 year olds, during their College years, and is now becoming a professional competitor League to NFL, where it's quite hard for 18 year old freshmen, who are now playing 24-26 year old men, and may even need to sit out 1st year.

Am I way off on this one, it sure looks that way? If it's up to me, you want to pay the kids who make their College money, sure, but CAP it at 22-23 year old and 4 years in College total, max 5 if you fit the age limit and have some legitimate exception. Not a bullshit one that I read above.

He is old though and they have a younger guy who is a starter. They will likely waive Cousins. Basically his contract is huge, but only 10 mil is guaranteed. They have to renegotiate, which I doubt they will do. He could be a legitimate option for us as a FA if we want him.

You are right and you are wrong in the same breath. I agree with your overall premise that they pretty much need to put an age limit into place.

The case for Trinidad though is that every fucking player gets granted the waiver that he gets granted. He has a legitimate case of a red shirt for that year but division 1 doesn’t recognize division 2 red shirts or non playing years.

If they didn’t grant everyone a waiver that walks the earth, I’d agree. But they do. That’s why I think he should be granted one.

I agree though. The NCAA has gotten out of control with transfers, waivers, etc. Indiana is trotting out an average age of like 24. No wonder they’re beating the doors off everyone. It’s grown humans vs. developing humans every week.

Wow, didn't realize Indiana AVERAGE was 24. This just a sham to be honest, men playing against boys. Cap at 22 (maybe allow to turn 23 that year if there is some legitimate exception) and that's it. So that REAL College students can play, not professionals under Indiana banner against actual students.

Adam Sheffter just reported that Teddy Bridgewater would rather play for the Jets than do progressive commercials

That’s true. But he shouldn’t cost too much.

I don't know, he might have a better chance at making the playoffs by sticking with the Progressive commercials.

Btw, @Jonathan_Vilma , case in point Carson Beck (23, turning 24 late this year) graduated two years ago from another College, and basically was hired as a professional to play for University of Miami going against 18 year olds: https://x.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/2012679894161858725 . Will play in natty on Monday against a team with 24 year old age average.

Complete sham, there is no other way to describe it. NCAA is just another professional League. They really need to put 22 years old as age cap.

If there's 10 ways to solve our QB dilemma, Woody and the Jets will pick the worse way.

I don’t follow college ball that closely but man I didn’t know it was that bad…call me old fashioned, and I get that the kids earn the school a lot of money so paying them something kind of makes sense, but man it’s really out of control…They really should cap it, and probably at 23 not 24.

But something like Chambliss wanting to go back for like what, a 7th season or something crazy like that?

    It’s nuts

It really has just gotten so far away from “collegiate amateur athletes”…you’re right, it’s just a professional league sponsored by universities now

I think we wind up with Gardner Minshew as the starter. Maybe Trubinsky.

It has to be somebody nobody would think of, right? And it will be terrible.

    Trey Lance.

I'd want to see it "solved" the same way I wanted it "solved" last offseason:

    Trade for Jameis Winston.

We might not be good, but it would at least be fun. I want to have a fun Jets season for a change.

In general, how well do rules and laws based on someone's age do in court when challenged as discriminatory?

Marcus Mariota or Mitch Trubisky would be my predictions. I could also see them taking Ty Simpson at 16

I almost said Russell Wilson, but probably too celebrity for Glenn

What I think will happen is they will sign a vet like Kyler after he gets cut and take a swing on a rookie Quarterback like Simpson.

what I want to happen is trade 4th for McKee and ride out the season with AG till he gets fired in week 7 after going 1-6 and then tank for 1st overall.

Id be pleased with Murray and then taking Simpson with a 2nd rounder. Then if neither pans out, they still have 3 first rounders in 2027.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to go defense with the first 3 picks.
