So you're saying you're ok with letting Hall walk then? Because this is exactly his situation.

I wouldn't mind keeping him but it's kind of the same thing, I don't know that his heart would be in it. The Jets have not done themselves any favors to make it a desirable job for hired guns. Coffee is for closers.

    Not why bother.

But we will have to overpay any free agent compared to what other teams would offer in most cases.

That’s been our history, and under prior GM’s (looking at YOU, Mac) we even just overbid despite no other real competition.

Let’s face it, we are a fucking dumpster fire with a bad HC and a clueless owner…any player with multiple options (especially if they are winning teams like KC, Den, etc.) will only choose us instead if we offer a significantly better financial deal.

    Just common sense

Which is exactly why we should transition tag him (projected 11 mil) if he does not sign our extension. That's basically right in line with his projected annual salary. And if he does decide to go to KC, Denver, etc, we match it and keep him. Easy as 1+1 indeed in this case as @WarriorRB28 pointed out.

You cannot stop any other FA from going to the better teams, but we can and must stop Breece. These are the CBA rules, and we need to use them to our advantage. Simple.

It’s not common sense, it’s reality.

The Jets made this bed, it IS reality and we are all living in it.

These scenarios almost never work out. If Hall is disgruntled now this scenario will double/triple the problem.

We could get something in a trade if it happens. But I am not giving him away now when we have some control.

I would pay AVT and let Hall walk. You can't have players here with that old regime mindset.. I feel like Hall has a very selfish loser mentality when it comes to this team, he is worried about what others perceive him as on this team. Almost embarrassed to play for this team, too good of a "talent" for this team.. etc...

Can't have it. I'd let him walk, send a message, it'll never work if they keep him here. I just think we can find some guys that actually want to be here in the backfield, who might be smarter to boot, if I'm honest.
