Haha, I like Glenn as a person and player. I don't wish any Ill will on him, he suckered Woody (insanely easy to do) with all his boasting and rah rah BS. I blame Woody far more because he's so easily manipulated, would I prefer Glenn slide the proverbial napkin across the bar with his resignation, sure but who's giving up 40 mill the next 4 years. Glenn has to know he's in way over his head but I don't blame the man, a lot of people with those personality traits have a knack of convincing themselves they are capable until they aren't.
Exactly. The season ended the moment we started hearing about all of the moral victories that came out of that Pittsburgh game.
Nothing was worse than Christopher Johnson calling Adam Gase a brilliant offensive mind . . . TWICE. I don't mean twice in one sitting. Two separate, distinct, spaced apart occasions. Yah, not once, twice.
For me it is either 3 wins or so to land a possible FQB with the top pick in 2027 draft everyone says is QB rich and force a coaching change or play-offs (or at least a winning season). Anything in between, say we win 7 games like with Bob with no shot at a top QB in 2027, and end up keeping Glenn possibly, it is just more misery.
It may end working out better for the Jets in the long run that they didn’t fire Glenn. Almost a third of the league (9/32) fired their coaches this year. That includes the usual bottom feeders that have been coaching carousels alongside us in the Titans, Browns, Raiders, Cardinals, Giants etc. There will most likely be less firings next year and we will have a loaded arsenal of picks in a QB heavy draft.
9 openings yes, but effectively it will be 7 openings (maybe even 6) as some of the fired guys may become HCs on another team, like Harbaugh and the Giants, Stefanksi, etc. Still, it is a lot of openings. I do agree on one thing: for the purposes of finding FQB, it may be better that Glenn is still the coach, since the likelihood of another early tankathon significantly increases. Still, he might win 5-6 games and take us out of QB race, which is what I suspect will happen. But yeah, much better chance for a higher pick for a QB with him than with a competent coach.
This year has an insane # of ridiculously QUALIFIED people. Unusually so. As the Jets luck goes, we'll win 5 - 7 games, fire Glenn and miss out on both the top QB's (unless tradeup) and far fewer really qualified HC candidates. I HATE this is where my mind goes but it's not out of the realm that we get screwed on both. In fact, it's highly likely with the Jets luck.
Dallas pick has a good shot of being in the top 10 in my opinion. It's a little too early to speculate records for next year, but they could definitely take a step back.
