After a certain period of time a player needs to show something. I think Allar has better tools than Hackenberg, who I felt was a late round to potentially undraftable player at the time. But Allar’s floor is so low that I wouldn’t take a chance with him.
He was all but guaranteed to be a top 5 pick this year already. Next year’s class is going to be much deeper and Moore will have to improve drastically to still be considered top 5.
Best Jets news I've heard in a while. Hopefully this significantly lowers the temptation for this front office to reach for a QB at #2. Load up in the first round with BPA and maybe take a QB in Round 2 if the opportunity presents itself.
As much as I thought he would be a terrible pick for the Jets at 2 if he did declare. how sad and embarrassing is it that a guy in college decided to stay in school over millions of dollars and going to the NFL because this team is a laughing stock. Yes Peyton did it last century but he was a sure lock this guy is meh.
Says who he rather not get drafted? Some puke head podcast by a Miami fan. For us is a great blessing.
Moore's decision HELPS the jets. Did anyone notice that the jets lost 5 straight games by 23 or more points? Their defense needs a massive overhaul, and the jets could get three starters in the top 44 picks. And don't draft lightweights like McDonald and Sherwood who get overpowered on every play. Beef up on the DL and LB.
A crazy thought experiment: How much would it take for the Jets to trade up to 1? The Jets have two first and two seconds this year, and have three firsts next year. Is there a package of picks that the Jets would be willing to pay and that the Raiders would be willing to take to pass on Mendoza and draft the best non-QB? Not saying either team should do it, but I wonder if a phone call will at least happen at some point.
Not with Brady involved at the top. He wants his franchise QB protege that he can groom. He's even come out publicly and made it known his praise for Mendoza. Add to that, it's the hated Jets and he would never let that happen.
Looking at that schedule, the Jets won't have to tank as I don't see more than 3 wins no matter who they sign to play QB. We might wind up at the top of the shitpile for once!!
Yes and no. I’m a little concerned that adding even a slightly below average quarterback will result in a few more wins. There are games we should have won that our quarterbacks lost. Tack on a new DC, presumably the best linebacker in the draft class and some new additions and the defense might be slightly below average as well. like him or not (and I don’t) Kyler Murray with this offensive line, presumably Breece Hall and a healthy Garrett Wilson with whoever we draft or signed to play with him probably wins five or six games.
Don't buy the furniture when the house hasn't been built.... Moore at this point would not have been the right choice for us. I think he could be a good pro QB but not with the 2 pick in the 2026 draft for the Jets. I'm relieved but now the work to get the right QB needs to be done
That's fine - he can improve on somebody else's time and dime. Check back in 15 months to see if he can help the Jets.
Acquire a QB through FA or trade. Get a top end WR, Inside LB and DT and couple of CBs through draft.
