What bothers me isn't him going back to school but the stupid narrative about him not wanting to go to the Jets and us having to see dickheads like this guy below banter about it https://youtube.com/shorts/l6BuXVBS1aY?si=5vo1inawgM-O-fdj
Ok, Ty Simpson, Chambliss, Beck, Nussmeier, and Mateer are all the mid range guys. There’s no sense drafting Simpson/Chambliss at 16 when you can get Beck, Mateer, or Nussmeier in the 3rd or 4th most likely. Just as always we end up being one pick away from the only viable 1st round pick in the draft.
The Jets were beginning to pivot away from Moore after the Indiana game...even some recent mocks in the last day or so had them bypassing and drafting defense. Arvell Reece would be a game wrecker the Jets defense desperately needs... I'm not sure is Simpson or Chambliss is worth #16. Maybe a trade down if they are targeting one of those guys....or maybe they plan on throwing a dart and waiting until later in the draft a QB and see if he sticks. They still have alot of draft capital for '27...
Beck would be an intriguing option....not expected to be drafted until the 3rd round - at least for now. Why not see what he has - maybe he shows he's good enough to be on the roster (decent back-up) and they draft their franchise QB at the top of '27..because that would be much more than what they have at the moment.
Moore made an excellent decision. He is a good prospect and going back to Oregon can make him a great prospect. Worthy of taking in the top 5. Run it back and prove the doubters (myself included) wrong.
I know it’s a longshot, but has anybody double or triple checked that strength of schedule calculation to ensure that the Jets SOS was a little bit higher than the Raiders.
Chambliss is the only other QB I'd want. The rest of them are truly projects, Why pick a project when you can have closer to a sure thing? I mean Chambliss balled out at the highest level and that's all you can ask. Why would you draft Nussmeier or Simpson when those guys aren't even close to the type of production that Chambliss put out there? They are both huge question marks and I need to see them do it consistently a la Chambliss against the best teams. Neither of them are in that tier yet. I know you didn't mention this but I'm replying to all the other posts on this thread that are suggesting these other options. Yeah he may be available in Round 2 or 3 but I wouldn't want to gamble on missing a potential franchise QB. He's a helluva lot closer to being that than those other names being mentioned here. So take him at 44 and fill several other holes with the first 3 picks.
There is no doubt this is a bad thing for the Jets because it would have made the pick far more valuable for someone that fell in love with Moore. Problem was that even if Glenn had a grinch he like epiphany where his brain grows to 3 times it's normal size and wasn't going to draft Moore then I am sure the pressure from Woody to find one would have forced his hand. If Malik Willis is smart he will pick a team that signs him to a multi year deal, one that typically picks mid to late draft so that when this historic class comes next year they won't replace him, that's not us. Murray doesn't fit anything but this staff will be desperate and I could see it being an option. Fact is our schedule is horrible this year and we aren't going to have a long term answer at coach or QB going into the season. I don't see a world where we win more than a few games, it's going to suck but the list of QBs coming out next year suggests we only need to pick top 5 and with all the other picks atleast one team in the top 3 won't need a QB. We are going to burn some serious assets but if we can move up for one of the top guys in a potentially legendary class who gives a fuck.
That's my general take as well on the range where he'll go. See my post right after yours. I just don't think people get it. He to me looks like the 2nd best QB prospect coming out by a good margin. If he doesn't go back to Ole Miss after the legal battle, I think his draft stock really rises to a high 2nd rounder and that's why I suggested 16 originally. I mean we're talking about a franchise QB here. That's not the kind of guy you gamble on waiting until the 3rd round if you believe he is that guy
I love the idea of taking a QB at 44, play him the second half and see what you have, no commitment to keep him.
I am in the "hate Moore in '26, know I will be all about Moore in '27" camp. Possibly alone in my camp. I have a flag.
Eh, I don't know. I think there were about eight QBs (seven without Moore) that any one of them could wind up being the second best QB in the class ...Simpson, Mateer, Chambliss, Moore, Nussmeier, Beck, Allar, Klubnik, maybe even Pavia. I personally like Chambliss and Nussmeier the best out of the group, but with that much uncertainty, I'd just prefer getting one of these guys in the 4th round instead of the 1st round.
Agree to disagree. Nussmeier hasn't done anything this season to be at the same level as Chambliss. Drafting a QB just to draft one is the wrong philosophy IMO. If there's a guy you think is the goods you get him even if it's in the late 1st or 2nd round.
That's what I'm saying ... I don't think any of them are "the goods." They are all potential developmental prospects.
