One thing I'd like to see the Jets consider doing if they select Moore with #2 is backing up that pick with another Qb selection. Mateer and Nussmeir are two guys who had good 2024 seasons, were expected to have breakout seasons and be in discussion for the 1st round... but instead had bad 2025 seasons which many attribute to injuries that occured early/before the season even began. Mateer (broken hand), Nussmeir (abdominal)... their stock is a bit down, but both have talent. I see this being similar to what Washington did with RG3 (#2) and Kirk Cousins (4th round).
Very true. Not sure it’s possible To have 50plus competitors conspire to lose a whole season. If they do take a qb, my wish would be to hire the best qb whisperer coach available (if that’s a thing)
Would've been nice if he did. But maybe a blessing in disguise. Team needs so much. Stay at 2. Get best player. Think Reese or Tate if he's expected to go that high. At 16 look at Simpson if he impresses. If not take best available or trade back for more. At 33 Look at Chambliss (if he comes out, Nussmeir if he tests to that area etc). Sign two vets to compete. Not ideal but what we need to do.
Absolutely a blessing in disguise. Target Simpson or Chambliss at 16 or 33 and still end up with a blue chip defensive player and another high end guy at either 16/33
2027 Manning Moore Sayin And others... Its going to be a wild year of teams tanking hard. Jets can't even do that right so set all expectations very low
The Jets are so bad that the #2 pick would rather not get drafted at all. So far as I can tell, we have no coherent plan at QB at this point.
Good luck to us all 10x over if they waste a pick on Ty Simpson. Hopefully the brain trust really hypes him up in the pre-draft process. He turned down $6.5 million to go to Miami in order to enter the draft. He obviously sees a huge opportunity to get drafted this year vs. next.
Simpson or Chambliss at 33 is more appealing to me than Moore at 2. And I don't even really want either of them. Edit: Even at 16 is fine with me as long as we have the right QB room. Blue chipper at 2, project QB at 16, top tier player at 33. I sign up for that.
So happy Moore saved us from this idiotic staff, they would have taken him because of the pressure to keep their jobs. Now we don't have to take him and don't have to worry about him being a superstar elsewhere if we passed on him. Win/Win. Now get Reese then Stiles or someone at 16, QB at 44 preferably, won't hamstring us into not taking a QB in 27
Man. Upset about this. But more so about not being able to read back and forth between Moore lovers and Moore haters.
This is good for the Jets, I didnt like Moore enough to take him at #2, but if he came out the Jets probably would have done just that. Take the BPA at #2 and go get whoever the Jets like next best after Mendoza at QB at # 16 or even at #33. As for Moore, I think he made a big mistake. This year he clearly would have gone in the top five even if the Jets passed on him. Next season, he might only be the 4th or 5th best QB coming out. He is taking a high risk low reward approach by returning to school. Guys like Mateer and Nussmeier fell in part due to injuries, same could happen to Moore.
Now with that out of the way, let's get Bain at 2, Chambliss at 16, Surratt at 33, and at 44 we go with the top DT left on the board. Or, maybe Ponds from Indiana at 44 as that kid looks like a pro corner already. He could start in the slot right from Day 1.
