I loved Josh Allen. Such a rarity to find a QB with his physical presence/tools but he was also very raw and unproven to the highest level.
Normally, I'm not a BPA guy but with this many picks and next to no talent presently on the roster, BPA might be the smart play at #2 if we don't trade out.
That's where I'm at. I think BPA should be the way to go this year. All rebuilding teams need to stack as many talented pieces as possible regardless of record and short-term outlook meaning the upcoming season. They need more elite talent, bottom line. I'm totally open to Love, Tate, Bain, and a few others at 2. Plenty of top level D talent to take at 16.
May be a little too high for a safety? Personally I would go front 7….maybe Bain. If not then WR add another playmaker and fill a hole. At 16 I would definitely go Woods or McDonald at DT or maybe even a guy like CJ Allen at LB and go DT a little later.
I’d go Bain then Downs. I know people inquired on Jermaine Johnson but he may be a trade candidate next year too. Either way, a big DE and solid 3 de rotation is key. Nothing truly matters until we find QB. Hope they find one in round 2 or 3 too.
They’re gonna draft one but I think it’ll be later as well. I wouldn’t mind taking a shot at Allar or maybe even Beck? Why not? Even if he eventually turns into a back up. The Jets really need a whole new room. Give a guy like Beck a whirl - all is costs is a single day 2 pick. Trade down at some point in second round maybe you can get him with another pick. If he doesn’t look the part the Jets still have all their draft capital in ‘27. But that being said they need to stock up on defense early. I’d like to see them get up to 3 starters in the first couple rounds….
I'm getting the impression that some of the draft community think that a team like the Rams would give up both of their 2026 first round picks plus their 2027 first round pick for the chance to develop a franchise upside qb behind Stafford for a couple of years. Of course, both their own number ones would almost certainly be late in the 2026 and 2027 first rounds.
And that’s just it. It is too high for a safety at 2 but he’s probably the best player in the draft…. Bain or Reese then I guess
I remember hearing they looked hard at Garrett Nussimier but believe he was benched at LSu this year. I think if it’s a later round QB he needs to be swimwear mobile
Starting to dive into Chambliss and man o man this kid has “it” so far. He’s a playmaker. Wish he didn’t have a Bryce Young type frame. Really nice deep ball and he is really fast. Picked up a bunch of nice first downs with his feet.
Same page. He really impressed the hell out of me the entire playoff run. He's got a bigger arm than expected, super accurate and poised back there. Really good command/presence in the pocket and can beat you with his feet. And great in clutch situations which is a huge skill. I would honestly take him at 16 and go Defense or WR at 2. I thought he was the 2nd best QB prospect in the playoffs behind Mendoza. He looks more put together than Bryce Young I think. The Jets need to be bold. If you want to take a QB, take the guy who balled out in the biggest games.
He also doesn’t take sacks and diagnoses blitzes really quicker. Miami had an unbelievable game plan to slow him down.
That part really sucks. Didn't watch him all year, but saw him in the play-offs, and he impressed. But the height is a MAJOR red flag unfortunately. He is listed 6-0 in Ole Miss, which means you are right, he is probably going to be even smaller, like Young. These are just incredibly tough odds to overcome in the NFL. If he were 6-2 or taller, and regular season was half as good as play-offs, we may be talking top of the 1st round. Would have been great for us (assuming he declares as looks like he is appealing the eligibility decision). But Bryce Young type frame hurts tremendously.
His ball security is legit. Especially with a guy that looks to run when the play breaks down. The kid is a gamer. The sample size is small. I’m not going to look at the D2 tape. Maybe I should but that’s tough to know who’s a good opponent and schemes.
Being shorter to me can be done if you have the athleticism to create passing lanes . Obviously height helps with the size of OL but quick reaction in the pocket to create passing lanes weather 6’6” or 5’11” is much more important. That natural pocket presence is much more impressive than height.
I like the take. I don’t think it’s necessary at 16. I believe he’ll be there at 44 and possibly beyond. The jets need a dog at QB a guy that will battle to the end and make big plays along the way. That’s why I really liked Mateer for us because he’s a guy who can change the culture. Chambliss has that quality too from what I’ve seen. The sample size worries me.. I blew through his film in 2 hours… one of the The best part he will be a value pick for us so we can still stack the D and add a fine offensive prospect.
It's funny because I hated Allen as a prospect. He was so inaccurate at Wyoming. I watched almost all their games his junior and senior years. They were usually the last games of the night to bet on, and I bet on him a lot. I thought he was a great college QB who would never succeed in the NFL because of his accuracy. Well, I was dumb. I did, however, love Lamar that year.
