Then we really should just wait until 27' draft then for a QB. It's supposed to be a really strong class, unlike this year. I just can't fathom taking someone that raw right now at #2. Not again. No thanks.
Sayin has so much talent around him at OSU. I genuinely think he is overrated right now by media. I don't think he is a better prospect than CJ Stroud or Fields right now in college. Just being honest. It's hard to evaluate him.
My point is that whether you like him or not, he is still considered a top College QB. You cannot discuss the level of QBs Indiana faced without mentioning him.
Well, yes, of course Mendoza did well all year, he won Heisman for fuck's sake, but this performance was something else, don't you agree? As far as Moore, I disagree, this was not "ghastly" performance. I did not see Indiana slow down defensively once they were up by a lot. Do you remember that bomb he threw from his own end zone to the left hash? I thought that was a big time play, even though yes in garbage time. The defense was not letting up AT ALL, even the commentators said it. As far as him being the reason for being down, to some extent yes. The pick 6 was bad. But the other 7 they gave up, that was not on him, that was RB. They took turns fucking up.
It really is hard to evaluate most of these OSU and Oregon QB's when they have the best skill talent in the country surrounding them. Oregon was without two of their top backs yesterday and meanwhile the other backs they played looked liked studs. That team has skill position talent in droves. The Jets should be looking at those schools for their RB's, WR's and TE's.
Sure Sayin looked poor against them too but he also played better than Moore did. You’re just looking at the fact that he stuffed the stat sheet in a blowout and trying to make the strange argument he was better. Ohio State has played exactly no one with the best receivers in the country so outplaying Sayin (if that’s the hill you want to die on) isn’t really impressive to me. You seem very rigid in your opinions once you take a stand. Not saying that to be a dick, but yesterday should’ve been a bit eye opening on Moore. Not really a game to try to defend a preconceived opinion about him. This feels eerily similar to the Zach Wilson arguments that were being made 5 years ago on this board..
No, I am open to changing my opinion at all times. I did that on Fields for example after watching 5 of his games. And I did change my opinion on Moore. He is less Pro ready than I thought, and Mendoza is definitely above him. It was in a way eye opening. But I still think he is a good QB prospect I would draft with #2 pick, and he needs to sit for a while a la Dart. As far as Zach, like I said he is not Zach and he is not Fields, he is a different type of prospect. Or if you point is that I was wrong on Zach, that's fine, I am trying to adjust my evaluation to consider the things I did not. But 70% of this board was sold on Zach and even more broadly too. He fooled a lot of people. I don't recall whom you wanted in the draft, but I think it is pretty silly argument for you to say you were wrong about Zach 5 years ago, like was majority was, so now the arguments you are making about Moore are also wrong.
No I wasn’t trying to rag on you for liking Wilson. I like Fields so I was way wrong too. The arguments sound similar though. Not enough experience, not good against good teams, great arm talent, etc.
Moore played well against some good teams though too and let's not compare Zach's schedule to Moore's. How did Mendoza look against similar defense as Indiana in Ohio St? He only could master 1 TD drive and 2 FGs. And Mendoza IS a better prospect. Unless your defense plays well against the other team, it will be pretty tough to win with 13 points scored. Granted pick 6 was awful, but he did rebound right away and tied the game. The other 7 offense allowed was completely on the RB. I do think he did not process in this game as quickly as usual. Maybe he was impacted by the pick 6. There was a lot of pressure too. But still, the evaluation is not just about 1 game. I am no longer running to the podium at #2 to get him like I would before this game. But I still think the talent is there, where I don't think I am passing up on him at 2 because of what I saw last night. If he even declares, which I hope he does.
