I don't believe much of anything these days... just read what you can and formulate your own opinion. There's 3 sides to every story
Mcsshays best friend is Joe Douglas. He is a tool bag who got fired for being a sloppy drunk at times on tv
I'm 41 going on 7 years of no social media. Life is pretty great without it. They can have the money. And hell I would give up sex for a Jets super bowl lolol
In a vacuum, he's probably right. All else equal, who on earth would want to play for this team. They're a joke. Generally, teams that pick at the top of the draft are jokes. Vegas, Jets, Cardinals, Browns? All those teams are jokes. The only way Moore isn't going to a joke of a team is if he falls off a bit and gets drafted later next year. I actually think among all the especially needy QB teams this year, the Jets are in the best position to bring in a rookie QB. They've got a better offensive line than Vegas, Arizona and Cleveland. Garrett Wilson and Breece match up with the other teams weapons. Jets also have a ton of draft picks, and I think they're either going to take a WR at 33 or trade into the first to grab one.
I believe it. The players must like him. As bad as this year was I'm willing to see what he can do next year, although with that sched and a rookie QB I give them 5 wins next year.
As much as I want to trade down from 2 and get an extra pick I think trading the 33rd pick is more likely, up or down.
Wanting to be a Jet and refusing to be a Jet are two totally different things. The last player that actually wanted to be a Jet is Ruckert because he’s a fan. McShay is right, no one really wants to be a Jet. But I think alot of people are running with that statement as if they refuse to be a Jet. The only player/players I could see refusing to be a Jet is Moore/Mendoza. I just read somewhere that Moore might be able to get 7-10m from Oregon to stay another year. That’s a good enough amount that I could see him deciding he’d rather stay in Oregon and take his chances over coming to work for a coach that’s been as awful as Glenn and is likely gonna be fired after a year.
I would rather any of those honestly, all 3 are getting new coaches and fresh hope for the organization.
Unfortunately for the Jets, at least the Raiders have been IN the playoffs, TWICE in the last 10 years. We can't even offer that. The Raiders also have history, a LOT of it, and Tom Brady is now in the mix. I sense some of that dysfunction will slowly ebb and Tom Brady has more football knowledge and skill in his right hand than does the ENTIRE NY jets FO combined. I can't say much about McShay or Connor or whomever. What I CAN tell you is what I've heard with my own ears at the High School level concerning some top College prospects. When the topic of the pros come up the ONLY team I hear floated as a bad, BAD destination is the Jets. One other point...I don't listen to the papers or all the bullshtein floated on "Media" (trust me, there's nothing "social" about it) I listen to my EYES!!! Now, after watching this last season, do you see a team full of people HAPPY to be on the Jets? I didn't. That's all I need. My eyes watched a group of people play like 22 individuals not 11 men, on each side of the ball, operating like a team. All I'm sayin'.
I'm not at all dismissing the fact that this is the most undesirable organization for any prospect to land, especially a QB. The whole thing is an utter embarrassment. This is one of the lowest points I can remember as a fan (I'm 46). They are widely considered one of the worst, if not the worst, organizations in all of American sports. I just think it's ridiculous that Moore's agent should "call the Raiders" as if that is some saving grace. I refenced 2002 in my first post. That is the year that Callahan took them to the Super Bowl with mainly Gruden's roster (and lost to Gruden). Do you know how many winning seasons and playoff appearances they have had since? Two. That's it. 2 winning seasons in 23 years. Again, I am not by any stretch of the imagination defending this dumpster fire of an owner and organization.
Look, if it were my kid, and there were other options, I for sure would advise him to avoid the Jets if possible. In over 60 years, we’ve “developed” I would say 3 QBs…Namath, O’Brien, and Pennington. That’s it. Whether our fault or theirs, we’ve had 3 top 3 QBs flame out here in the last 15 years in Sanchez, Darnold, and Wilson. I’d say Darnold is the only one of those three with real QB talent, but the optics for the other two are still bad if you’re trying to make a case to a young kid to stay away. This is much much more than just a Glenn problem. This is institutional. This is partly due to some crazy belief pattern that results in us hiring rookie DC’s time and time and time again since 2000 and ignoring offense development. If you really take a hard objective look, this is not just bad luck. Bad luck doesn’t run for 20+ years this way. This is a result of Woody at the top making the final decisions and they are almost always wrong. And before this shitshow of an owner, we had Leon Hess
I feel you, Lon. The Raiders, by any definition, is still a shitty place to land. The only thing I can think of, at this point, is whomever goes there isn't going to have to deal with the NY Media or the NY fans. Although, Raiders fans have been known to be pretty rabid people! LOL!!!
