I voted for the Gase one because the Jets managed it with a quarterback who was actually good and just needed to get out of the Jets hellhole.
Same here. And statistically it was worse. Also I expected 4 wins this year, so it wasn't as painful.
Kotite - you knew he would be gone by the end of the season. Gase - granted the team had very little talent, but they played hard for him Glenn - no good excuse, and we get to see him coach again. Glenn gets my vote.
Gase was unequivocally the worst. 0-13 to start the season. The Jets O/U win total going into that season was 7.5. Quickly destroyed a future Pro Bowler's career here (Darnold). That hire was when this franchise hit complete rock bottom and still hasn't recovered.
I don't give a shit about records. 0-fer, 1, 2, 3 wins...who gives a fuck. This year was the WORST NY Jets TEAM I've ever had the misfortune to watch. I checked, not one WR, in 2025, reached 400 yards, for the YEAR! There are guys that put that up in 2 or 3 games!!! That's an NFL 1st. In Gase's bad season Jamison Crowder had over 700yds receiving. Statistically, team wide, this year has been an unmitigated disaster. This team simply wasn't competitive from the moment the first snap happened all the way to the last snap in Buffalo. This is the FIRST time this team has been uncompetitive, across the board, in my lifetime. Gase had a bad offense but this shit was in SHAMBLES and his defense wasn't this bad. BOTH sides of the ball were atrocious this year but the defense was HISTORICALLY bad. You know, I've been a Jet fan a long time. Not as long as some but longer than others. Multiple decades. I went into this season with the expectation of winning no more than 4 games. However, I was expecting to see a competent football team operating with the ENERGY of a new regime! I expected to see a team clean up some penalties, be in position and look like they knew they belonged on an NFL field. I did not see that throughout the entirety of the season. Lethargic, unmotivated, out of position, not flying to the ball, not executing, coaches not coaching to the strengths of their players. Also, this discussion about how "bad" our players were/are is lost on me. As I've posted many times in many different threads, the whole NFL, not a year and a half ago, was talking about how much up and coming talent the Jets roster had. Where in the hell did all those players go? Oh, wait, they were ON THE FIELD. How does the Indianapolis Colts find a 44 year old guy, sitting on a couch, to come play yet the NY Jets can't find a replacement for a failed Fields? How does an organization have one of the, IMO, top 5 running backs in the league yet make SURE he touches the ball 33% LESS than his contemporaries? No, as bad as the Kotite and Gase years were, neither LOOKED this bad from pillar to post.
This is how I feel as well…people defending Glenn and pointing to the roster and saying stupid shit like “well no one could win with this roster” is so off the mark. Firstly, the most important player is the QB, and he sucked balls, but that was Glenn’s call…he fired AR and replaced him with one of the worst QBs in the league in Fields. I give no quarter for that…it was Glenn’s fucking call. Secondly, and more importantly I think since most of us knew Fields sucked anyway, is not that we all expected playoffs or a lot of wins. Most of us didn’t. Personally, my prediction was 5 wins, give or take one up or down. So say 4-6. And it’s not so much that we grossly underperformed that metric. It’s not the WHAT. It’s the HOW we looked. I’m with you. We looked fully and totally incompetent almost every game. We were down multiple scores right away even in early games before we traded Sauce and Q and before we went full on tank mode by playing Cook. Some we got closer final scores when the other team let up, like the Tampa game. We never played a complete game. Not a one. We won a couple of games just from our special teams and we beat a team in Cincy playing without their QB and we just caught them in the middle of their mid season slump…sure as shit we would not have beaten that team the way the played later in the season. But yes, it’s the HOW bad we looked. The penalties were terrible. The offense was terrible. The defense left guys wide open seems like every other play. Forget the stats….and I know they were bad and we set so many futility records. Just forget that and watch the games and you can easily see that this was not a talented team, but worse than that, it was not a well coached team. People talk about Glenn’s leadership. What leadership? When the defense was going bad, he didn’t stand up and say “I’m the HC…it’s on me”. No. He stood up and said something like “it’s Wilks’ scheme and I don’t put my hands on it”. Holy fuck…what kind of leader lets his lieutenants out to dry like that? You’re the fucking HC. It’s ALL on you! Hard to point to anything concrete that Glenn did well. Like what did he do well? Can’t look at offense. That sucked. Can’t look at defense. That sucked. Penalties sucked. I’ve never seen a team go an entire season without an interception. And he’s a fucking DB for fucks’ sake. The only thing I can honestly say Glenn did well is find Banjo to run the special teams and find a good punter and bring back Nick Folk. That’s it. Not much to hang your hat on. We heard a lot of talk about brand, about accountability, about leadership. But NONE of it translated to the field, and kind of telling that all of those are just intangible coachspeak kind of things. Nothing concrete. Shit, he refused to even try and explain what he means by “our brand of football”. You just get total bullshit lines like “trust me”. Why the fuck should we trust you? You’ve shown NOTHING. I keep waking up hoping to see a headline that something snapped and Woody woke up and fired Glenn this morning…but sadly it hasn’t happened yet and I doubt it will at this point. Woody is such an imbecile…if one of the worst seasons in NFL history setting SO many futility records doesn’t get Woody’s attention, then I’m at a loss…it’s hopeless. And again, it’s not the fact that we only won 3 games. It’s how badly we looked doing it that is the real problem.
So let me get this straight. 0-13 doesn't matter but how uncompetitive you looked in the games this year matters wayyy more? Ok, I think I got it but that makes no fucking sense!!! You can't use stats to backup your viewpoint and then completely shun the huge W-L stat of 0-13 as if it's not as, if not more, important. That's what cracks me up about all this Glenn vilification. He's just another in a long line of shitty head coaches. And actually Glenn should get more wiggle room because he doesn't have 1 real starting QB on the roster. The most important position in sports. Gase a had a future Pro Bowler on his roster and completely destroyed him. I don't care if they lost 13 games in a row by 1 point. They still suck big balls either way, the end.
Record doesn't matter if you watch the games, that's what burns me about people saying "well how many wins did you expect"? Not fucking many, maybe 5 or 6 but that's not the problem. Record is a number, what I saw this season is why I come to the conclusion I do, fuck the record, if we were 3-14 but looked competent and the team played hard for the coach I would be happy.
Yup this place has become a total cesspool. You look at every thread right now it's the same handful of people blaming glenn. Couldn't get past 10 posts of a thread about the roster before he was brought up and how it's pointless to discuss anything else. I'll be in the bs forum and baseball for a couple months
Been following the jets since 1969--I cannot recall a bigger embarrassment than this year's team. 1. Defense is so bad they give up about 30 points every game--zero INT all year--Glenn should be embarrassed. 2. Guys playing out of position like Sherwood and McDonald and Glenn refuses to change things--he'll probably have them both at their same failed positions next year. 3. Bruising back Braelon Allen returning kickoffs (???) so he can tear up his knee (?????) 4. Opening the season w Josh Reynolds as a starting WR? He was only on his 5th team, slow as hell and lucky to have a job. 5. Your team MVP is a punt returner tells you all you need to know. I think Aaron Glenn needs to hire a real good OC AND DC to survive. His current OC does not impress me and his DC was a disaster.
I'm glad it cracks you up because you're fucking right...if we had gone 0-17 but looked like there was a light at the end of the tunnel I'd be fine. As stated multiple times by a whole lot of folks, no one was expecting a fucking playoff berth. Hell, I had them at one win over what they got! However, what we WERE expecting was a team that actually took the field like they gave a shit. Not sure about you, but I didn't see it. Disinterested. Getting their asses torn up from top to bottom. That entire fucking team should be ASHAMED to take our money. THAT is what I saw. You and you are full of shit. Let me ask, did BOTH of you watch ALL the games? I did. You know what, I also watched all of the Gase and Kotite years as well. Neither of those did their teams LOOK this fucking bad! You know what Glenn's team looked like, they had no fucking pride. That's what. When you have PRIDE in what you do you don't walk on the field looking like you have your thumb up your ass! Dancing around and flexing after a single tackle looking like you just ended the god damn Super Bowl. While your team is getting their doors blown off by the end of the 1st quarter. Yeah, ole' Aaron Glenn really coached up a juggernaut there. Real fucking proud to have this shit trotted back out next year. Clearly you people seem to be. So, go ahead on, champion less than mediocrity because I won't be joining you. Here or in the bs/baseball forum.
Picked Gase because not only did he suck, but he delayed and destroyed the development of Sam Darnold, who should have been our franchise QB.
