Old Thread is over 75 pages and it is now archived in the Draft Forum. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/2026-draft-qb-prospects.100902/ Let's use this new thread for QB discussions.
It’s looking like with most guys going back to college they are betting on themselves. Next year QB class should be loaded up with a lot of guys declaring. If that’s the case and we don’t have any fall to us later in first or second. Wait until next year
Assuming we rate him as a big time pro playmaker I'd like to know how dumb it would be to secure Carnell Tate with the top pick. And then just see what happens. If one of the other guys fall take a chance with the Colts pick and if not then just do the best we can and get a guy next year with a nice offense to turn the keys over to. Just because Justin Fields was a disaster doesn't necessarily mean we can't get a Geno Smith or Kirk Cousins type guy in here and solidify the situation before the "right" new guy comes in.
In a world where they don't love Moore or he stays in school for another year, I think Carnell Tate or Jordyn Tyson would be my favorite options with our first 1st. I know we have a ton of holes on defense but with almost 100M in cap space, surely we can fill most of those with serviceable options in FA and then use that pick to give us another legit WR to team up with GW. I could also be talked into Arvell Reese, Bain, or Bailey there and then Makai Lemon or Denzel Boston.
Forget the picks. Are you now available to be around? We missed you my friend. Need you to be super active this offseason.
I should be more available now. First few months with the little man were all hands on deck which left me with very minimal free time outside of work hours. I was also very busy during the day as my company had ramped up manpower quite a bit for various jobs. We seem to be slowing down quite a bit so I plan on being more present over the offseason! At least from ~7am-4pm lol
I like Tate, I'll look more at Tyson, but no. 2 overall seems too high for them. At the Colts pick, getting one of them is an absolute coup. At no. 2 overall, if you dont take a QB you need franchise changing positions like pass rusher or offensive line. Considering offensive line isn't a possibility then yeah you gotta look hard at Bain, Reese or Bailey. I like things about each of them. I think I'm team Bain at the moment but I like them all. Reese is unique, almost like Micah Parsons coming into the draft, he's not a true edge rusher at all but he can rush the passer and we could really use his closing speed
I would have happily drafted Mendoza at 1. But I'd rather trade out of 2 to a team that falls in love with Moore and get a nice overpay.
Seems like he's trying to get a waiver to come back to Ole Miss next year so he might not even be an option.
I lean this way too. It's just hard to be certain though because the upside of hitting on a QB is so high that it can honestly make sense to try even if you think there's only like a 20% chance he works out.
That's the thing, a good QB is worth 3-4 players, maybe more. If you have a #2 pick, you need a QB, and there is a consensus #2 player on the board that is a QB, how do you not take that shot? And this is not just my evaluation, this is a lot of people who watch all the time that think Moore is top 2. This is a consensus, and even these who do not think he is #2, think he is still 1st rounder, and QBs get pushed up. Even if you miss, you have to take a swing when you get this opportunity.
We'll see. Seems like he wants to go back to Ole Miss for one more year but that'll be up to the NCAA.
Tyson has a ton of injury problems over the last two years. Some have caused him to miss games, some have just cause him to play through nagging injuries. Makes me super nervous as a NFL player. Tate is legit but you should be able to move down, maybe twice and get a mountain of a haul rather than taking him at 2.
He's 23 years old I dont see how he doesnt get a waiver to return to college football. They give out waivers to everyone these days and his freshman year he did not play, so thats an easy redshirt decision
