How is it possible that this team drafts consistently in the top 10, frequently in the top 5, and is still this bad? Those of us who have briefly mentioned whether this is the worst Jets team ever, I have no question that it is, and I'm debating whether it's the worst NFL team ever. When you take into consideration coaching, game planning, overall talent, and yes, heart, this is a contender.
It's usually the same teams who draft in the top of the draft and the same teams who draft in the bottom with a few changes every now and then. Developing good players has less to do with where you draft them and more to do with your organization.
Our problem is systemic. Our problem is the Owner of the team. He absolutely will not hire anyone with prior HC experience. Gase was an outlier and even that failed miserably. So, its always OJT for this team's braintrust. One year to learn the job. One year to try and do the job. One year to fck up the job. Fire and repeat.
It’s a stat that should probably get the head coach fired especially it being the last 5 games. Even a rookie head coach.
We have discussed this many times, absolutely systemic and it answers the question - which was rhetorical by the way.
