The best since the JETS drafted a good prospect.... and released him to draft a very flawed prospect.
You're honestly clueless about this and it's hilarious you're so confidently wrong. Then again, you were the guy saying a few days ago that Mendoza would probably fall to our Colts pick when he's been the favorite to go #1 overall for a while, so not sure anyone should hold their breath for you ever figuring it out. I try not to be rude but you're simultaneously one of the dumber and snarkier people here.
Absolutely agreed, this is brutally dumb. You acknowledge that 6.5 wins split the money about equally on both sides. Meaning people with half the money thought we would win 7 or more, and the other half 6 or less. Then why are you arguing the fans thought the roster was shit and betting lines are irrelevant, when half voted with their money we would win 7+ games? Now I do concede if @JackBower put up his 100s of millions (or more) on the under, the line would surely move down to 3.5, but this is a hypothetical at this point, since he is a law abiding citizen in a no gambling state.
Beyond just a complete ignorance on the betting lines, you guys are not citing anything at all relevant to the team, ya know, the ones actually playing. They won 5 games last year. Did they make any improvements to the roster? Try to stick to football and not irrelevant noise like the betting lines. Because that is stupid as fuck
Because we desperately need one, and we are not the only ones. QB in the NFL is by far the most critical player and is worth multiple players in other positions. That's why in general QBs are pushed up and yes, overpaid. With that said, depending on the situation I would try to use Dallas' 2nd rounder to move up if I knew Giants are going to deal the pick to someone else and will not stay put. Maybe add a comp pick there too we just got for Morgan Moses, a mid rounder. But at the end of the day, gun to my head, do I give our own second round pick or watch someone else trade up for Moore, I would probably reluctantly give our own second rounder to secure him. Ideally of course we lose today, Giants win, Moore declares, and we draft him #2 straight up.
I know you struggled a bit with this fundamental surrounding truth last offseason once you dug in on liking Fields as a surface option, but you realize the jets are probably the absolute worst current developmental spot for pretty much any draft QB to fall into, right? Right? You seem to be a big "betting odds" guy. Brutally dumb here imo would be trading additional and meaningful assets just to secure the rights to chase after one of the worst payout odds bets on the board. Moore isn't that type of prospect, and you are massively overstating any realistic chance a bet on him actually sees a positive payout *HERE* in the same way you did with Fields last offseason. Generally speaking taking one big swing with our 1st is one thing. Forcing multiple big and bad swings into that same developmental death sentence equation is quite another imo.
You seem to be struggling right now to get your thoughts out. So, the Jets should never draft a QB because the odds are not good? Or you don't like Moore specifically? You want another QB prospect? Veteran? We need new regime, then you want to address QB? Speak coherently on what it is you are suggesting.
You also write like Moore is a great prospect and would be fine trading up for him. I'm not sure anyone else here has that opinion.
What's so hard to understand with what i just said? I was simply pointing out that you are digging in on Moore atm and are basically ignoring the same massive blind spots in your supporting logic that you did with Fields. If anything seems to be struggling there it's the immediate retort attempt that leans into the tired "so we should never draft a QB then?" stuff nobody but you there is actually claiming atm. Speaking for myself I didn't take that as personal. Overly-defensive and snippy perhaps
Glad you didn't take the attack you started as personal . I already covered the differences between said players, and you gotta keep trying to find a young QB, even if a lottery ticket you got before didn't pan out. Are you able to answer the above questions I asked? State your position on how to proceed. Thus far you said a lot of irrelevant things to the topic. This is a QB prospect thread. How do you want the Jets to proceed when it comes to QB prospects and which ones? If you are not able to articulate your position, there is no point to continue.
I actually already answered your question in this thread. It hasn't changed since, and especially with the only relatively agreed upon high floor option (nobody needs high floor more then the NYJ imo) in Mendoza likely off the consideration table. You can find it here: https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/2026-draft-qb-prospects.100902/page-21#post-4462740 Speaking of adequately articulating out a position, how much of what you are even standing behind or advocating for on Moore's behalf are you even going to own a year from now in the event it happens? I ask because routinely cheering for things up until the point they fail (often spectacularly), and then simply shifting the focus over to how such stupid decisions are all the coaching/FO's fault, seems to ultimately end up your end game play in 80% of what gets discussed on this forum. Why is your stance on Moore here, and your advocating that we trade up with additional assets to get him if needed, going to be any different this time? Can I actually read such with an expectation that you plan to give both the GM and Glenn a complete pass within your "fire them" rantings latter when such a low floor and poor probability bet doesn't hit?
I see, so you were not going to make any comments about QB prospects all along at all. The goal was to just focus on lying about me via personal attacks while making no contributions yourself and adding no value. Nothing new here. Good talk.
Typical Jets offseason. Everyone gets real touchy about their golden QB of the future. I remember the Zach Wilson wars. PepperRidge farms does too.
I got no QB. Not a Mendoza or a Moore guy myself. Nothing special about either. I am "Team Trade Down". 2nd pick will bring more picks versus the 3rd pick. Hope Woody trusts Moogey so he navigates this off season best way he can.
