There are so many problems with this organization it's hard to figure out where to start but here is my attempt. I'm sure I'm missing even more issues beyond what is listed:

    1. Ownership - This is the primary problem. Woody is clueless on how to run a franchise. Firing or keeping AG should be a reasoned decision based on the owner's benchmarks of team progress and the coaches leadership skills. I don't think Woody has any idea what to look for or how to determine these things. Look at Robert Kraft (who I despise btw); he determined that Mayo was the wrong guy, not a leader and had lost the team so he made the reasoned move quickly. Does anyone believe Woody has a handle internally on what is transpiring within the Jets franchise or how to even evaluate progress? Which is why he keeps making the same mistakes over and over.

    2. QB - Jets haven't figured out the QB position in decades. In my 40+ years of watching the Jets there have been 2 consistently good/ok QB's, Ken O'Brien and Chad Pennington. Fitz had one good year too. No way are the Jets ever winning anything without stabilizing the QB position. If we draft one in the first round this year who is going to develop him? Tanner Engstrand, Charles London?? These guys have no track record with a young quarterback.

    3. Organizational structure - No experienced football guy leading this franchise with an overall vision or plan. Supposedly AG and Mougey have a plan and the fans are supposed to believe it? I guess so, even when the team appears to be regressing rapidly. See number 1 for why it's hard for any Jets fan who didn't just starting rooting for the team in the last 5 years to believe this. We've heard this all before. Weren't Sauce, Quinnen, Breece and Garrett supposed to be the building blocks of the resurgence of this franchise????

    4. Mediocre to terrible coaching - Again, back to ownership. Last great coach was Parcells. Jets continue to hire first time defensive coaches (with the exception of Gase whose hiring is equivalent to the Jets hiring Jerod Mayo right after the Pats fired him). How many times are the Jets outcoached, it's practically weekly. You almost never see in game adjustments to exploit an opponent, play design to maximize our strengths or anything creative or cutting edge. More often the Jets are running vanilla plays on both sides of the ball and not putting their talent in a position to succeed. How many players have left the Jets to find success elsewhere? That's on bad coaching.

Ok that's it for me. Should AG be fired? Who knows but as a long time fan I question whether it would even matter or not. Mendoza or Moore aren't going to fix this mess. There is no excuse why Jets fans have to continually wait on these rotating ineffectual 5 year rebuilding plans when other teams can turn things around much more quickly.

Shit rolls downhill and it always starts at the top. There's no question that this is an institutional problem with the Jets franchise. It's so much bigger than one thing like firing AG. That's just a band-aid on a massive crater.

And it all starts with Ownership. Until they get out of the way, bring in a real football guy to rebuild this franchise, let him do his job, and provide the financial backing to carry out his vision, nothing will change.

As I've stated elsewhere, I'm really hoping Johnson shows up in the Epstein files or something equally damning. Because, as both of you have stated, none of this gets corrected unless there is either a fundamental change in how Johnson operates that team or Johnson and the entire clan are removed from the equation altogether. Seeing as we simply aren't going to see an "old dog learn new tricks" I'm focused on the later strategy to save franchise AND Jets fans. Sad but true.
