I am all for this but I don’t think the Jets can land a top coach. Another glorified coordinator is just going to be rinse and repeat. They should follow the Pats playbook from last year and fire Glenn only if they can land a big dog.
If we keep Glenn moving forward, I don't know if I can ride it out, man. Having this guy being involved with our QB decision, our drafts, with all this draft capital. Another rebuild. Should this really be the guy that gets that chance at this point? This has been worse than the Gase era for me.. How the fuck do you accomplish that? So soon, even. It's such a sad state. It's getting absurd. Can we all agree at this point? This is fucking absurd.
Glenn is coming back because we were tanking for the QB pick. We are literally playing Brady Cook on purpose. Let's evaluate Glenn and Mougey after an off-season to address the holes in our roster
Woody can’t be cheap here and just cut the cord on AG. I liked him as a player but as a coach he’s in way over his head. I had my doubts last season when he was with Detroit when they needed a shoot out every game to win. They blamed it on injuries but I felt their defensive scheme was so basic and easy to play against.
I'm not so sure. It's not about the win/loss at this point. It's about competence. This is nowhere near competent football. It's not close. I think it's far higher than you think, it should be anyway.
I have flipped on this topic several times throughout the season. Personally I think he should be fired. Clearly the team hasn't "bought in" with his message and that speaks volumes. Let's be honest, what aspect of this team has improved since last year that can be directly linked to Glenn. I would say special teams looks pretty good but I think that is more the Special Teams Coordinator than anything Glenn has done. I just dont see what message he can bring to this team that would bring a tangible impact on next year's team.
The shittiest part about their tanking is that for as awful as these past 4 weeks have been, they're not even getting the 1st pick and may not have any QB choices. It's definitely a low point
Watching this SF/Bears game it just speaks volumes how quickly a team can get turned around with a good coach. Man, it’s so Jets that we get the wrong coordinator from the Detroit lions of all teams. Pretty clear Ben Johnson was the reason they had success the past few years not Campbell like everyone thought and definitely not Glenn.
I'm watching the Bears/49ers game as well and they were showing play designs Ben Johnson drew up when he was a small child and mentioned he was a math/computer science major in college. That's the kind of coach we're up against and trying to out-scheme. We are so outmatched with Glenn it's not even funny. He is not remotely the kind of coach that is optimal in the modern NFL.
As much as i agree with you and would love this to be true, sadly it isnt, totally… Each week, whoever is calling the jets game, sits in the booth and literally reads the same damn script -“ glenn is the right guy”, “the players are all bought in on the culture”, “he will turn it around in year 2”. Do they actually believe this? Im afraid Woody does unfortunately. Not one commentator has dared to call Glenn out… why is that? I dont want to go there, but you almost have to wonder if there are other agendas in play. This team isnt losing close games… they are getting massacred from the jump. Even their wins are smoke and mirrors. This is by far the worst team in the league and it isnt even close.
https://www.youtube.com/live/B7dYNiWo8Dc?si=4U8MRrWnil3ijzZ1 Glenn just proved his own incompetence at his presser. 2:45 he says “I thought we had a good game plan on both sides of the ball, I really did” Then they get killed 35-3 at half and if the Pats didn’t take their foot off the gas they would have lost by 60. Woody cmon man.
Hence why I was freaking out when we beat the Browns and Falcons. The NFL is a short season, every single loss matters when you're trying to get the top QB in the draft. Now we're looking at the 2nd QB+ in a 1 QB draft after our worst season in the modern era. We'll also probably have to give up significant draft capital to even get the 2nd QB if we choose to go that route since the Giants are likely to shop their pick.
Ben Johnson was more qualified to be a HC when he was in elementary school than AG ever was at the peak of his career.
I’m just not gonna get low about us not getting the first pick. Would it be nice sure. But the QB position is so funny. Most these guys who are stars now weren’t picked first overall and some not even in the lottery/ first round. We just need to identify some guys who can play. Stick with our picks no trading up and draft one later in first or in the second whe the chips fall
